  • Patent number: 7487079
Abstract: An Enterprise Service Delivery Technical Architecture includes a Technical Model, and a Technical Delivery Framework, and is designed to facilitate the development of complete enterprise service management solutions. The use of the Enterprise Service Delivery Technical Architecture as the framework for an enterprise systems management technical solution results in solution designs created to be independent of the technology platform being managed with a view that meets the overall business requirements that span the technology platforms within a business environment. An information technology infrastructure already in place for a customer is analyzed and broken down to its very lowest level building blocks. Then the building blocks within the model of the technical architecture are mapped with the building blocks of the customer's information technology infrastructure to determine which of the building blocks of the model are to be used for the customer's information technology operation.

  • Publication number: 20080320323
Abstract: A method and system for enabling directed temperature/power management at the DIMM-level and/or DRAM-level utilizing intelligent scheduling of memory access operations received at the memory controller. Hot spots within the memory subsystem, caused by operating the DIMMs/DRAMs above predetermined/preset threshold power/temperature values for operating a DIMM and/or a DRAM, are avoided/controlled by logic within the memory controller. The memory controller logic throttles the number/frequency at which commands (read/write operations) are issued to the specific DIMM/DRAM based on stored parameter values and tracking of outstanding operations issued to the memory subsystem devices.

  • Patent number: 7464316
Abstract: A turbo decoder that calculates alpha, beta and gamma (branch metric) values does not normalize the branch metric but instead applies the normalization factor to the newly calculated extrinsic values before writing them to interleaving memory, resulting in use of less memory than in prior turbo decoders. A compensating factor is applied when the extrinsics are read from interleaving memory. The absence of normalization in the gamma calculation not only conserves memory but also enhances decoder sensitivity.

  • Publication number: 20080300846
Abstract: A scripting approach to managing the test bench complexity issue is provided. Partitioning the functionality of a test bench between Verilog and a scripting language allows for a significant reduction in compile times during ASIC verification. If done correctly, partitioning also offers great potential for re-use of test bench components. The Tcl language was chosen as a basis for implementing a library of PLI routines that allow fully customizable interpreters to be instantiated in Verilog test benches. This library allows multiple Tcl interpreters to be instantiated in a Verilog simulation. The Tcl interpreters can interact with the simulation and cause tasks to be executed in the Verilog simulation. It has been found the TCL_PLI library is extremely valuable in speeding up verification efforts on multi-million gate ASICs.

  • Publication number: 20080294950
Abstract: A method and system is presented for correcting a data error in a primary Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) in a Dual In-line Memory Module (DIMM). Each DRAM has a left half (for storing bits 0:3) and a right half (for storing bits 4:7). A determination is made as to whether the data error was in the left or right half of the primary DRAM. The half of the primary DRAM in which the error occurred is removed from service. All subsequent reads and writes for data originally stored in the primary DRAM's defective half are made to a half of a spare DRAM in the DIMM, while the DRAM's non-defective half continues to be used for subsequently storing data.

  • Publication number: 20080284738
Abstract: A proximity sensor device and method is provided that facilitates orientation changes in displays. The proximity sensor device and method provide a user with the ability to indicate an orientation change in a display using the sensing region of a proximity sensor device as a user interface. In one specific embodiment, proximity sensor device is implemented to indicate an orientation change in a first way responsive to detected object motion along the sensing region in a first direction, and is further implemented to indicate an orientation change in a second way responsive to detected object motion along the sensing region in a second direction. Thus, a user can cause orientation changes of different ways through the use of object motions in different directions along the sensing region.
