  • Patent number: 11774604
Abstract: A wearable radon detector is an apparatus that measures radon exposure around a user. The apparatus includes a housing, an elongated plate, and a radon-detecting foil strip. The housing contains the elongated plate and the radon-detecting foil strip. The elongated plate positions and maneuvers the radon-detecting foil strip. The housing includes a receptacle portion, a storage portion, a first breakaway line, a plate-receiving slot, and a plurality of air passages. The elongated plate includes a grasping member, a setting member, and a second breakaway line. Radon collects within the receptacle portion through the plurality of air passages. The storage portion shields the radon-detecting foil strip once setting member has been slid from the receptacle portion and into the storage portion, the receptacle portion has been separated from storage portion along the first breakaway line, and the grasping member has been separated from the setting member along the second breakaway line.

  • Publication number: 20230304457
Abstract: A variable flow area injector for a liquid rocket engine. The injector has a poppet with a variable outer width portion and a housing with a variable inner width portion. An annular flow path is defined between the variable width portions. Increased throttling of the engine passively increases the annular flow area of the injector by forcing the poppet in a distal direction. Decreased throttling allows a restoring spring to move the poppet in a proximal direction to decrease the annular flow area. A bellows can be included to dampen movement of the poppet. The bellows may be in a propellant-filled cavity separate from the main propellant flow path and have a series of openings through which the separate propellant flows.

  • Publication number: 20230308376
Abstract: A switch may operate in a cut-through mode and a store-and-forward mode. While in a default cut-through mode, the switch continuously monitors ports for certain health metrics. If those health metrics fall below a threshold, the switch changes to operate in a store-and-forward mode, either for a predetermined period of time or until the health metrics rise above a threshold, at which point the switch can resume cut-through mode operations. If health metrics fall below an even lower threshold, or remain below threshold for a predefined period of time, the switch can automatically alert a remote system or software process.

  • Publication number: 20230289348
Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed for identifying a co-applicant based on proximity to an applicant. In an embodiment, a processor determines a location of the applicant, and identifies a plurality of potential co-applicants that are collocated with the location of the applicant. For each respective potential co-applicant of the plurality of potential co-applicants, the processor determines whether a respective edge exists on a graph that connects the applicant with the respective potential co-applicant, and, responsive to determining that the respective edge exists, identifies the respective potential co-applicant as a candidate co-applicant. The processor generates for display, on a device of the applicant, a selectable option that, when selected, indicates that the applicant would like to use the candidate co-applicant as a co-applicant for an application. Responsive to detecting a selection of the selectable option, the processor activates the application at a device of the candidate co-applicant.

  • Patent number: 11757848
Abstract: Users access content using a variety of formats, where some formats provide stronger encryption or protections than others. Content transmitted over open protocols may expose content to unauthorized third parties or enable unauthorized use of the content. The content may be protected by converting the content to a set of instructions on a user device, where the instructions correlate characters to identifications and outlines of the characters with instructions for rendering the characters. Different segments of content may have different mappings between characters, identifications, and outlines to add time or resource use to attempts to reverse engineer the instructions.

  • Publication number: 20230279045
Abstract: Methods and systems for control of solid phase peptide synthesis are generally described. Control of solid phase peptide synthesis involves the use of feedback from one or more reactions and/or processes (e.g., reagent removal) taking place in the solid phase peptide synthesis system. In some embodiments, a detector may detect one or more fluids flowing across a detection zone of a solid phase peptide synthesis system and one or more signals may be generated corresponding to the fluid(s). For instance, an electromagnetic radiation detector positioned downstream of a reactor may detect a fluid exiting the reactor after a deprotection reactor and produce a signal(s). In some embodiments, based at least in part on information derived from the signal(s), a parameter of the system may be modulated prior to and/or during one or more subsequent reactions and/or processes taking place in the solid phase peptide synthesis system.
