  • Publication number: 20150292566
Abstract: A constricting clutch brake element is operable to selectively transmit mechanical power between relatively movable rotating members. A plurality of backing plates are movably mounted and selectively movable radially on an annular body of the clutch brake element. The backing plates engage a plurality of friction linings. Each backing plate is configured for usage with different numbers of torques bars to meet different torque carrying capacities, all within the same envelope size. The configuration also allows plural torque bars to be relatively positioned so that they can engagingly guide the backing plate during its radial movement.

  • Patent number: 9160679
Abstract: Aspects of port empty transition scheduling are described herein. In one embodiment, when one or more cells are added to a queue in a network communications device, an enqueue indicator is generated. The enqueue indicator identifies a number of cells added to the queue. With reference to the enqueue indicator, a queue scheduler maintains a count of cells enqueued for communication and issues a port pick credit for a port of the network communications device. A port scheduler schedules a pick for communicating over the port with reference to the port pick credit and forwards the pick to the queue scheduler. In turn, the queue scheduler forwards a queue pick to the queue, and at least one of the cells is forwarded to dequeue logic. According to aspects of the embodiments described herein, empty port scheduling inefficiencies may be avoided and network throughput increased.

  • Publication number: 20150285369
Abstract: An active thermal hydraulic control system for a transmission is provided. The active thermal hydraulic control system improves fuel economy by storing transmission fluid in areas away from rotating components during hot operation. However, during other conditions the transmission fluid is kept in the sump. The active thermal hydraulic control system includes an active thermal valve. The active thermal valve is an electro-mechanical device which converts electrical energy into thermal energy which melts a wax pellet which in turn moves a plunger. Movement of the plunger controls the opening and closing of a valve that communicates between the sump and the side or front cover of the transmission. The system improves fuel economy by as much as 0.5% by storing excess hydraulic fluid away from rotating components.

  • Patent number: 9152471
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for improving system performance using cooling configuration information are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A set of components in a data processing system is indexed according to corresponding amounts of cooling available to the components in the set. Priorities are assigned to component users in a set of component users. Using a processor and a memory, a component whose index value represents a higher than threshold amount of cooling availability to the component is allocated to a component user whose priority is higher than a threshold priority.

  • Patent number: 9141621
Abstract: A plurality of differential data stores are stored in persistent storage media. In response to receiving a first request to store a particular data object, one of the differential data stores that are stored in the persistent storage media is selected, wherein selecting the one differential data store is according to a criterion relating to compression of data objects in the differential data stores. The selected differential data store is copied into temporary storage media, where the copying is not delayed after receiving the first request to await receipt of more requests. The particular data object is inserted into the copy of the selected differential data store in the temporary storage media, where the inserting is performed without having to retrieve more data from the selected differential store in the persistent storage media.
