  • Publication number: 20060031123
Abstract: The invention comprises a financial management program and one or more databases containing information on merchants and their products. The program interacts with the databases containing the product information to return the prices and availability of goods located in a designated area. The program compares prices from various merchants and displays the results to the consumer. The program also allows the consumer to compare the prices with a household budget and financial data, while keeping track of trends in the consumer's spending and buying habits.

  • Publication number: 20060031339
Abstract: Integration of instant messaging software with user devices, thereby enabling a user to communicate with an instant messaging client through an alternative device. A user receives a notification of an incoming instant message through this alternative device, which may be, for example, a cordless telephone. In preferred embodiments, the user can also respond to that notification using the alternative device. Various types of notifications may be supported. For example, when the alternative device has a textual display, the actual instant message (or some portion thereof) may be rendered on that display; a light may flash, or a “beep” may sound, for notification on an alternative device which lacks textual display capability. Similarly, various types of responses may be supported. The user may “type” a textual response, for example, using a keypad of the alternative device or may press a key (or key sequence) associated with a predefined response message.

  • Patent number: 6989996
Abstract: A circuit breaker panel for hazardous environments and, in particular, Class 1, Division 2 environments, includes a housing having an internal cavity and an access opening through which the internal cavity is accessed. A closure door covers the access opening of the housing. The closure door is held in a closed positioned solely by one or more one latches. This permits rapid access to be obtained to the internal cavity through the access opening. Electrical components are positioned within the internal cavity of the housing, some of the electrical components being circuit breakers. Each of the circuit breakers and all other arcing and sparking electrical component is enclosed in its own self contained explosion proof casing.

  • Patent number: 6952086
Abstract: A control system for a linear motor adapted to accurately supply a moving window of power to the stator coils. A plurality of individually switched stator coils run the length of a linear motor to move a rotor down the long axis of the stator. Accurate inductive-based position sensors continuously provide position data for the moving rotor. A processing unit calculates a proper time delay from a source voltage peak in order to apply power to the next stator coil in the moving direction of the rotor such that no DC offshoot/undershoot occurs. The linear motor control system optionally includes a failure prevention switching scheme in which pairs of individual stator coils on opposite sides of a double-sided stator are switched together.

  • Patent number: 6923072
Abstract: A fan powered by a controlled external energy source and a flow measurement device measure the airflow exiting or entering grilles/registers of an HVAC system without impeding the airflow being measured. A flow straightening element is preferably employed to overcome any effects of a non-uniform or swirled airflow profile on the fan. Preferably, the RPM of the fan is measured to determine the airflow. The RPM/flow calibration of the fan is insensitive to pressure differentials or the fan is a pressure-sensitive fan submitted to appropriate pressure differentials. Alternatively, the voltage or current supplied to the external energy source is used to determine the airflow. Finally, the pressure differential across the flow straightening element can be measured to determine airflow, eliminating the impact of pressure differential across the flow measurement device and fan.

  • Patent number: 6905654
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for controlling static charges in a fluidized bed olefin polymerization reactor. Static charges which develop in the polymer products are measured and, if they fall outside a predetermined range, static charge control agents are introduced into the reactor. By controlling the static charges in the reactor, sheeting and drooling can be controlled.

  • Patent number: 6879075
Abstract: A permanent magnet synchronous machine with improved torque and power characteristics. A circumferential-oriented rotor assembly is provided with alternating permanent magnets and magnetic pole pieces. In order to reduce the amount of leakage flux in the rotor and increase the effective length of the permanent magnet, a trapezoidal or otherwise tapered permanent magnet structure is used. By alternating trapezoidal permanent magnet, and magnetic pole pieces, a higher intensity magnetic field is created in the air gap utilizing the same radial space in the motor without altering the weight or volume of the motor compared to conventional machines.

  • Publication number: 20050071269
Abstract: The present invention is a mobile server wallet provider portal, system, method and apparatus. A MSWP portal can include a configuration for communicative coupling both to a plurality of MSWPs and also to a content proxy. A composite profile generator further can be included which can be configured to combine a plurality of MSWP profiles into a single, composite profile for routing payment messages in the proxy to the MSWP portal. Finally, the MSWP portal can include selection logic configured to process a user selection of one of the MSWPs to process a payment transaction received through the proxy. In a preferred aspect of the invention, the content proxy can be a wireless service proxy (WSP). In this regard, the WSP further can include a filter plug-in configured to route the payment messages to the portal when the payment messages match rules specified within the composite profile.
