  • Publication number: 20160333142
Abstract: The present invention concerns polyester resins of General Formula I (HO—[R1R2C(CH2—)]a[—OCOCxHyCO2—]b[—CpHzO—]c—H) or General Formula II (HO—[R1R2C(CH2—)2]a[—OCOCxHyCO2—]b[—CH2CR3(CO2H)CH2O]d—H), wherein R1, R2, a, b, c, d, x, y, p, and z are as defined herein, for use in inks and coating compositions. The polyester resins of the present invention are particularly, but not exclusively, suitable to enhance the adhesion between a printing ink or coating composition and a substrate, especially a plastic substrate, to which it is applied. The polyester adhesion promoters of the invention are compatible with urethane-based inks and coating compositions.

  • Publication number: 20160257588
Abstract: Systems and methods for diffusing gas into a liquid are disclosed. In some cases, the methods include tangentially introducing a liquid into a cylindrical chamber having a cylindrical inner wall such that the liquid develops a spiral flow. In some cases, gas bubbles are orthogonally introduced into the liquid as the liquid flows through the chamber. In some cases, a flow of the liquid and the gas bubbles is controlled such that a ratio of a liquid flow rate to a gas bubble flow rate does not exceed values which convert non-bacteria enriched, clear water into froth. In such cases, a mixture of the liquid and the gas bubbles to exit the chamber near an output end. While the liquid can include clear water, in some instances, the liquid also includes bacteria (e.g., surfactant-producing or non-surfactant-producing bacteria) and/or bacterial nutrients that allow for improved bioremediation.

  • Publication number: 20160192164
Abstract: A personal protective device is combined with a cellular telephone. Activation of either device causes activation of the other device. Activation is achieved by a switch or voice command. Upon activation, a message asking for assistance at the present location is sent to a previously agreed upon emergency contact. The smartphone also starts both audio and video recording, which are also part of the data sent to the emergency contact person or service. Additionally, the personal protective devices are integrated into a unit that may combine such items as a protective spray, Taser, strobe light, dye pack, siren and other deterrent technologies to ward off would-be attackers. These devices are integrated into a hand held unit that can be unobtrusively worn or carried in a purse or pocket. An optical safety device is included to protect the user from a potential assailant approaching from rearward.

  • Patent number: 9275125
Abstract: A system and related methods for organizing incoming data into profiles and persons based upon identifying characteristics. Profiles contain identifying characteristics that are assigned different values based upon reliability factors, such as age of the data, or generality of the data. These values are used to link a plurality of profiles together into a person. As persons are created and stored by the system, the introduction of new persons causes both new data and existing data to be evaluated so that when information for a person already present in the system is entered the objects are merged rather than duplicated. Self healing mechanisms allow data integrity to be maintained despite changes in configuration or data reliability valuation by re-evaluating links between profiles and identification of persons when a change is detected. Several APIs allow end users to insert new data an access existing data.

  • Publication number: 20160045275
Abstract: A material-removing machine for removing material from a cone section of a medical balloon includes a material-removing element operatively connected to a prime mover such that operation of the prime mover imparts rotation to the material-removing element about a rotational axis. The material-removing element includes an interior surface defining a generally conical-shaped cavity extending along the rotational axis and adapted to receive at least a longitudinal portion of a cone section of an expanded medical balloon for removing material from the longitudinal portion of the cone section to reduce a wall thickness of the cone section. Material may be removed continuously around a 360-degree exterior perimeter of the longitudinal portion of the cone section of the medical balloon to reduce the thickness of the balloon wall defining the cone section.

  • Publication number: 20150323643
Abstract: A position tracking system for tracking a physical location of a radio frequency (RF) transmitter comprises at least four RF receiver antennae at known locations. Each receiver antenna receives RF signals from the RF transmitter. One receiver antenna is used as a reference antenna. A receiver channel unit is in communication with the RF receiver antennae. The receiver channel unit comprises a reference receiver channel and a measurement receiver channel. A multiplexer is dynamically configurable to selectively connect the reference receiver channel to the reference receiver antenna and to connect, in succession, each other receiver antenna to the measurement receiver channel. A comparator measures phase differences between the RF signals received by the reference antenna and those received by each other receiver antennae. A data processor computes the physical location of the RF transmitter from the phase differences measured by the comparator and the known locations of the receiver antennae.

  • Publication number: 20150220537
Abstract: Systems to manage the collection of multimedia and physical-sensor data automatically strike a balance between resources utilized to perform the collection, and the usefulness of the data recorded. The recorded data may be augmented with additional data or data streams, and the resulting dataset is automatically composited to produce an audience presentation focusing on selected aspects of the full dataset. The same source dataset may be composited differently to produce another presentation with a different purpose, theme or focus.
