  • Patent number: 5056937
Abstract: A sliding bearing such as a half sliding bearing, a cylindrical bushing and etc. includes a back metal of a three-layer construction composed of a back metal portion of austenitic stainless steel having a thermal expansion coefficient of not less than 15.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C., a plated bonding layer formed on the back metal portion, and a plating layer of Cu or a Cu alloy formed on the bonding layer. An alloy layer made of a copper-lead alloy or a lead-bronze alloy is formed on the back metal. With this construction, the alloy layer is positively bonded to the back metal. The austenitic stainless steel is of such a type that the back metal is less subjected to work hardening, and the austenitic stainless steel contains those components which prevent work-inducing martensite transformation.

  • Patent number: 4930910
Abstract: A bearing arrangement including a plain bearing consisting of a laminated body of a bearing layer and a backing metal supporting the bearing layer. The backing metal is made of a material whose modulus of elasticity is lowered by cold working (austenitic stainless steel), and the bearing layer and the backing metal are joined to each other by cold rolling. Since a working proportion of the backing metal upon the above-mentioned cold rolling is small in the inside portion held in contact with the bearing layer but is large in the outside portion, the modulus of elasticity of the backing metal is different between the inside portion and the outside portion thereof, and the modulus of elasticity in the outside portion is smaller than the modulus of elasticity in the inside portion. Also, the hardness of the outside portion is higher than the hardness of the inside portion.

  • Patent number: 4885622
Abstract: A PIN photodiode is composed of a lower electrode deposited on a substrate, a photoelectric transducer of PIN construction deposited on the lower electrode, and an upper electrode deposited on the photoelectric transducer. A method of fabricating the PIN photodiode is also disclosed. All of electron-and-hole pairs generated in the photoelectric transducer in response to application of light are biased by the lower and upper electrodes. These electron-and-hole pairs are quickly picked up as a current between the electrodes for detecting the light falling on the PIN photodiode.

  • Patent number: 4811069
Abstract: A photoelectric conversion device comprises a photodiode comprising a metallic electrode formed of a metal capable of forming a Schottky junction together with amorphous silicon, such as Cr or Ni, a transparent electrode formed of ITO or the like, and an i-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon layer sandwiched in between the metallic electrode and the transparent electrode. A bias voltage is applied across the metallic electrode and the transparent electrode so that the metallic electrode is biased to a negative potential relative to the transparent electrode. A Schottky barrier formed in the interface between the metallic electrode and the i-type hydrogenated amorphous silicon layer is used as an electron blocking layer. Thus, the dark current is suppressed on a low level and the photoelectric conversion device is able to operate at a high S/N ratio.
