  • Patent number: 5933253
Abstract: A gamut compression method and apparatus for a color DTP system in which more natural-looking color regeneration is achieved in consideration of the difference in gamut from one device to another. If the gamut of the output system GMout is smaller than that of the input system GMin, the gamut of the input system is divided into four portions in a two-dimensional plane of lightness and chroma, under a constant color hue, using two straight line segments, and gamut compression is done by varying the compressing direction for each area, so that the color in the gamut of the input system will be converted into the color in the gamut of the output system.

  • Patent number: 5708725
Abstract: A headphone like a cordless headphone including a pair of headphone units, a pair of supporting members, a headband and a pair of spring-biasing members. The headphone units are attached to one end of said supporting members. The headband is shaped in a substantially U-letter in cross section. When the listener wears the headband on the head, the headband is flexibly deformed to press the headphone units against the listener's ears. A pair of spring-biasing members are disposed between the supporting members and the headband. The spring-biasing members spring-bias the supporting members in the direction in which the supporting members are contracted relative to the headband. Frictional forces generated between the supporting members and the headband under the condition that the listener wears the headband on the head are substantially equal to the spring-biasing forces of the spring-biasing members.

  • Patent number: 5422310
Abstract: To form an interconnection on a substrate, an interconnection material layer is deposited on a surface of a substrate having a step with a base layer of Ti-base metal disposed between the interconnection material layer and the substrate, and the interconnection material layer is etched by way of dry etching using a fluorine gas until a surface of the base layer is exposed. After the surface of the base layer is exposed, the substrate is heated to a temperature ranging from 250.degree. C. to 600.degree. C., and the interconnection material layer and the base layer are continuously etched by way of dry etching. The process allows an interconnection pattern to be reliably formed on the stepped substrate surface.

  • Patent number: 5376230
Abstract: After a field oxide is formed, only a bird's beak is removed by wet etching while a resist which exposes only the bird's beak is used as a mask. When the field oxide is formed, a latent stress acts on a semiconductor substrate under the bird's beak. Since the latent stress is released when the bird's beak is removed, crystal defects do not occur. Since the mask is used, the thickness of the field oxide except for the bird's beak is not decreased. In addition, since the wet etching is performed, crystal defects do not occur during the removal of the bird's beak.

  • Patent number: 5138665
Abstract: An audio reproduction system for use in an audio amplifier, for example, has a tone control unit for increasing or reducing a gain, or keeping an increased or reduced gain, of a signal if a particular frequency range of an audio signal supplied thereto, and a volume control unit for increasing or reducing the gain of the audio signal in a full effective frequency range. The tone and volume control units are ganged by a gain control unit, so that the gain which has been increased in the particular frequency by the tone control unit, can be controlled depending on the degree to which the gain has been increased by the volume control unit. The tone and volume control units may include variable resistors, respectively, whose movable contacts are interconnected. When the knob of the volume control unit is shifted toward a higher scale level position, the gain of the signal in the particular frequency range is lowered by the tone control unit, thereby preventing the reproduced sound from being distorted.
