    Abstract: An airbag device is provided wherein the airbag device is made by folding an airbag having a left airbag section and a right airbag section by a new folding method. In one form, an airbag includes a left airbag section and a right airbag section that are inflated on the left and right, respectively, in front of a passenger, and a base chamber that communicates one ends of the airbag sections and with each other. The left airbag section and the right airbag section are made to a secondary folded body that is flat in the right-and-left direction and is elongated in forward and rearward directions. Then, the bags are finally folded by being roll-folded from the leading ends toward the base end parts thereof.

    Abstract: An airbag device is provided in which the airbag device is made by folding an airbag having a left airbag section and a right airbag section with a new folding method. An airbag includes a left airbag section and a right airbag section that are inflated on the left and right, respectively, in front of a passenger, and a base chamber that communicates base ends of the airbag sections with each other. When the airbag is folded, first, the left airbag section and the right airbag section are primarily folded so as to have a reduced vertical width, thereby forming primary folded bodies that are elongated in forward and rearward directions. Then, the primary folded bodies are folded so as to have a reduced longitudinal width, thereby forming a secondary folded body. Thereafter, the base chamber is flattened and the secondary bodies are placed on the base chamber.

    Abstract: An occupant protection device for a vehicle is provided in which a main airbag including a left airbag section and a right airbag section surely inflates into a predetermined position. A main airbag includes a right airbag section which inflates on the right side ahead of an occupant and a left airbag section inflating on the left side ahead of the occupant. In one form, the occupant protection device further includes a ceiling airbag in a position substantially vertically above the lateral center of a passenger seat. The ceiling airbag inflates so as to project downward from a ceiling trim to be fitted in a space between the upper surfaces of the right airbag section and the left airbag section of the inflated main airbag to guide the main airbag to inflate surely into a predetermined position.

    Abstract: An airbag is provided in which connecting belts extending from opposed surfaces of a left airbag section and a right airbag section can be connected easily to each other and which can be manufactured easily. In one form, the airbag is composed of four panels; an inside panel, a right outside panel, a left outside panel and a proximal panel. Connecting belts are connected to the inside panel. The respective connecting belts are each formed with an insertion portion by folding a cloth fabric having a pair of end sides at about a midsection thereof. Rod-shaped jigs are inserted into the respective insertion portions. In a state in which the connecting belts are overlapped, the jibs are fixed in parallel at a predetermined distance, and width control tethers are pulled in the directions away from each other. Accordingly, a tensile force is applied to the respective connecting belts, and hence a tensed flatly extended state is achieved.

    Abstract: Rotation of an input shaft is directly transmitted to a front carrier of a planetary gear mechanism, and rotation, which is speed-changed and reversed by a toroidal-type continuously variable speed change unit, is transmitted to a first sun gear. When a Low clutch is applied, rotation of an output carrier of a simple planetary gear unit is transitted to a counter gear mechanism via a common carrier, and then output at an output shaft. When a High clutch H is applied, rotation of a second sun gear is transmitted to the output shaft. Thus, the pinion shaft is shortened and the service life span of a supporting bearing is increased as compared with a planetary gear mechanism that has a three-step pinion.

A lower edge of the mid panel and a lower edge of the extending piece are sewn together at seams inside the air bag. Seams to and to formed by sewing the edges are placed inside the air bag. As a result, seams are not exposed on the front face and side faces of the air bag, and the faces are smooth.
