  • Patent number: 5760520
Abstract: A motor has a stator and a rotor that is formed of two rotor parts fitted on a rotor shaft in a fashion preventing the rotor from rotating relative to the rotor shaft. The rotor parts carry permanent magnets arranged with a fixed pitch angle over their outer peripheral faces. The rotor shaft has a single key for engaging with both an engagement groove of the first rotor and an engagement groove of the second rotor. The engagement groove of each steel plate forming the rotor parts is formed in a position shifted 1/2 of the skew angle from the pole center of a given one of the permanent magnets. The steel plates of the first rotor part and the steel plates of the second rotor part face in opposite directions when fitted to the key of the rotor shaft, thereby providing the predetermined skew angle between the two rotor parts.

  • Patent number: 5528094
Abstract: A drive system comprises first and second motors for driving an electric car in response to alternating electric currents supplied to their coils. The first and second motors have their respective first and second rotors assembled on a common shaft at angular positions which are shifted by a first predetermined angle in their direction of rotation. Moreover, the first and second motors are energized by currents which are shifted in phase by a second predetermined angle. The first and second predetermined angles are individually determined in advance on the basis of the undesirable torque-fluctuation harmonic and the polar ratio of the motor. As a result, the torque fluctuations of the selected harmonic of the motor frequency of the first and second motors can offset each other to reduce the vibrations due to resonances.

  • Patent number: 5094652
Abstract: This invention relates to a belt driven continuously variable transmission having a pressure regulating cam mechanism giving an axial force corresponding to the transmission torque to a pulley and preventing too much belt pressing force. A retainer is fixed on a boss section of a stationary sheave and a spring made of multiple disc springs is situated on the outer surface of a boss section of a movable sheave for contact the retainer. A spring apparatus is composed of the retainer and the spring. Accordingly, at the decelerating range with large shifting ratio, besides the axial force made by the pressure regulating cam mechanism, the spring apparatus generates pressing force by contacting the retainer and maintains the belt holding force. When the shifting ratio is small, the spring returns to its natural length and disengages from the retainer.

  • Patent number: 4946424
Abstract: This invention relates to a belt driven continuously variable transmission having a pressure regulating cam mechanism giving a pulley an axial force which corresponds to transmission torque and eliminates torque transmission by friction between a pressure regulating cam and a fixed race. The stationary sheave, whose outer surface is supported, with rotation free at a case, by a bearing and whose inner side encloses the pressure regulating cam mechanism, has a circular hub elongating axially to the back side of the stationary sheave. Therefore, torque from the engine is transmitted to the fixed race of the regulating cam mechanism through an input member, and further transmitted to the stationary sheave through a roller and a movable race of the regulating cam mechanism. Consequently, the stationary sheave is supported at the case by the bearing and the radial load does not work on the pressure regulating cam mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4909776
Abstract: One of bolt section or a nut section on a ball screw devices, or nut sections (for example) are connected to gear sections axially movable, while the bolt sections are connected to a stationary element, so that relative rotation is given to the bolt section and the nut section to adjust movable sheaves. Between another of the bolt section or the nut section on the ball screw devices, or the bolt sections (for example) and the stationary element, adjustable retainers are installed without axial move being allowed, and holding apparatus to hold the retainers at required position is installed with the retainers. Due to the above, initial tension and position of the belt are adjusted and determined by varying the nut sections in axial direction for the bolt sections. It is possible to perform this adjustment after the assembly is completed.

  • Patent number: 4735598
Abstract: Pulleys are provided with load cam mechanisms which exert axial forces corresponding to transmitted torque, and actuator means such as ball screw mechanisms which shift the movable sheaves of both pulleys in axial direction, wherein the axial forces occuring at the pulleys are carried by their shafts and do not act on the housing. A counter shaft is located between the primary and secondary shafts, the countershaft being rotated to drive the actuator means through gearing such as gearwheels, to alter the drive ratio. During power transmission, the axial forces acting on the movable sheaves of primary and secondary pulleys are converted into torque by the actuator means, where the torques are transmitted to the counter shaft in the form of counteracting torques, so that alteration of drive ratio can be made with slight effort on the counter shaft, equivalent ot the difference between the counteracting torques.
