  • Patent number: 9212628
Abstract: An abnormality detection device for an exhaust gas recirculation apparatus is provided that can perform abnormality detection with respect to an EGR valve while suppressing the influence of a size relationship between an intake pressure and an exhaust pressure. An ECU (Electronic Control Unit) executes processing for extracting a pulse from an intake pipe pressure value. The ECU executes arithmetic processing for performing Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) with respect to an output waveform of an intake pressure sensor obtained by sampling processing, and also executes extraction processing that extracts a “frequency component corresponding to a period of an exhaust pulse”. The ECU executes processing that determines, in steps, whether or not the size of the extracted pulse (amplitude size) exceeds a threshold value. If the amplitude size exceeds the threshold value, the ECU executes processing that determines that a totally closed abnormality is occurring in the EGR valve.

  • Patent number: 9132494
Abstract: A wiring board and a method for manufacturing the wiring board reinforced by means of a resin is provided. Embodiments of the wiring board allow for reliable attachment of a connection member, like a socket, to a terminal member. For example, a base of terminal pins is put on pin grid array (PGA) terminal pads, and a bonding material paste including solder and an electric insulation material made of a resin is placed on each of the PGA terminal pads. The bonding material paste is then heated to fuse the solder and soften the electric insulation material. Subsequently, the bonding material paste is cooled to solidify the solder and bond each of the bases to a corresponding PGA terminal pad and form an electric insulation surface layer on an exposed surface of each of solder junctions to which the respective bases are bonded.

  • Patent number: 9121364
Abstract: Provided is a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine, which can adequately perform the control of a fuel injection amount even when an abnormality, a disconnection or the like of a fuel pressure sensor occurs and thereby accurate fuel pressure information is not able to be obtained. A fuel injection valve (26) is provided which is capable of directly injecting fuel into a cylinder. If a target fuel injection amount is smaller than a minimum fuel injection amount that is minimum and is capable of injecting during one opening and closing operation of the fuel injection valve (26), the start timing of fuel injection is set within a period in which an exhaust valve is opened during an exhaust stroke.

  • Patent number: 9068519
Abstract: An object of this invention is, even when executing WGV control, to stably control an air-fuel ratio in parallel therewith. An ECU calculates a WGV correction coefficient Kv based on a degree of opening of a waste gate valve (WGV) and calculates a wall-surface fuel adherence amount FMW that is an amount of fuel adhering to a wall surface of an intake port by adding a base wall-surface adherence amount FMWB, the WGV correction coefficient Kv, a water temperature correction coefficient Kt, and a load factor change correction coefficient Kdl. The calculated wall-surface fuel adherence amount FMW is added to a fuel injection amount ETAUout. Thus, a state of a blowback amount of exhaust gas that varies with the degree of opening of the WGV can be reflected in the fuel injection amount.

  • Patent number: 9027535
Abstract: A control apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided that can favorably determine a shut-off failure of an EGR valve under a high intake pressure condition in which an intake pressure becomes higher than an exhaust pressure. In a case where the high intake pressure condition and a transition condition are established at a time of a shut-off instruction on shutting off the EGR valve, it is determined that a shut-off failure of the EGR valve has occurred if an actual measurement value of the air-fuel ratio of exhaust gas detected by a main air-fuel ratio sensor is a value that is leaner by an amount equal to or greater than a predetermined lean determination value relative to a target value of the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas.

  • Patent number: 9020739
Abstract: Disclosed is a control device for an internal combustion engine that is used with an internal combustion engine having an EGR catalyst and an EGR valve in an EGR path for connecting an exhaust path to an intake path, and capable of preventing the purification performance of the EGR catalyst from being degraded during EGR stoppage and purifying exhaust gas in a preferred manner upon EGR resumption. When EGR is stopped with the EGR valve closed, the control device judges whether an EGR path air-fuel ratio is richer than a threshold value. If the EGR path air-fuel ratio is judged to be richer than the threshold value, the control device sets a target air-fuel ratio for the internal combustion engine to be leaner than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio.

  • Patent number: 8986126
Abstract: Structure of a cross universal joint is achieved in which the fact that an excessive torque was applied to a universal joint due to a collision accident or mishandling can be easily determined afterwards. Protrusions 20, which are straight lines as seen from the outside surface sides of linking arm sections 15c of a yoke 12c, are formed on the outside surfaces of the linking arm sections 15c. When an excessive torque acts and the linking arm sections 15c are plastically deformed, the protrusions 20 change from a straight line to a non-straight line. From this change it is possible to easily confirm that an excessive torque has been applied to a cross universal joint that includes this yoke 12c. Moreover, when the space between the inside surfaces of the linking arm sections 15c is taken to be D, and the length in the axial direction of the linking arm sections 15c is taken to be L, the dimensions of the parts of the yoke 12c are regulated so that the relation 3<L/D?4 is satisfied.
