Patent number: 6292926Abstract: The invention provides a functional module model for realizing optimal pipelining. The functional module model includes division line data representing division lines corresponding to positions where pipeline registers can be inserted and delay/area data representing the trade-off relationship between the delay and the area of each division area partitioned by the division lines. By using this functional module model, a pipeline register insertion position is selected among the division lines represented by the division line data, and the delay and the area of each division area are set on the basis of the trade-off relationship represented by the delay/area data. Thus, a pipelined circuit with a minimized area can be synthesized.Type: GrantFiled: July 2, 1998Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masahiro Fukui, Masakazu Tanaka, Toshiro Akino, Masaharu Imai, Yoshinori Takeuchi

Publication number: 20010018758Abstract: A physical design method optimizes the performance of an integrated circuit much more efficiently. After an initial layout is obtained for an integrated circuit, a set of process steps, including evaluating the overall performance of the integrated circuit, selecting a candidate cell and changing the performance of the cell, is carried out a number of times. In the step of selecting a candidate cell, a cell, which should have its performance changed, is selected from multiple cells included in the integrated circuit based on the performance evaluation result obtained. Then, by reference to a library, a characteristic representing the performance of the candidate cell is determined in accordance with an external condition imposed thereon.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2001Publication date: August 30, 2001Applicant: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masakazu Tanaka, Masahiro Fukui, Shuji Tsukiyama

Patent number: 6253351Abstract: An equivalent circuit converter reads out transistor-level circuit diagram data and equivalency conversion rule data, converts circuit data based on the equivalency conversion rule data, and then feeds back the converted circuit data to the circuit diagram data. An estimate calculator reads out the circuit diagram data, which has been converted by the equivalent circuit converter, and environmental variable data, thereby calculating an estimate representing a degree of optimization. In response to the estimates supplied from the estimate calculator, a circuit optimizer selects partial circuits to be subjected to equivalent circuit conversion during the optimization of the circuit. Then, the circuit optimizer sequentially determines whether or not each of the partial circuits should be converted into an associated equivalent circuit, thereby optimizing the entire circuit.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1999Date of Patent: June 26, 2001Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masahiro Fukui, Masakazu Tanaka

Patent number: 6202195Abstract: In designing a layout for a deep-submicron semiconductor integrated circuit, a violational wire involving a violation of the delay limitation is extracted based on information representing a layout result obtained in a layout step. In order to extend a wire spacing between such an extracted wire and its neighboring wire to above a predetermined wire spacing, the neighboring wire is subjected to parallel displacement. If such a parallel displacement causes a distance of separation between the parallelly-displaced wire and its neighboring component to fall below a predetermined distance of separation, the component in question is shifted in order of extending the separation distance. Accordingly, even if the delay time of wire is dominant in comparison with that of element in regard to the signal propagation delay time, violations of the delay limitation occurring when the signal propagation delay time is less than a predetermined delay time can be canceled by a less number of steps.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1997Date of Patent: March 13, 2001Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masakazu Tanaka, Masahiro Fukui, Noriko Shinomiya

Patent number: 6012284Abstract: Exhaust gas is caused to flow through a bypass passage during an adsorption mode. At this time, an adsorbing member adsorbs harmful components, e.g. HC, of the exhaust gas. Also, exhaust gas is caused to flow through the bypass passage to thermally desorb the harmful component held at the adsorbing member during a desorption mode. A quantity of heat given from exhaust gas to the adsorbing member during the desorption mode is calculated based on an operation state of an engine. It is determined that the desorption of the harmful components has been finished when the quantity of heat given to the adsorbing member reaches a total quantity of heat required for totally desorbing the harmful components adsorbed by the adsorbing member.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 1998Date of Patent: January 11, 2000Assignee: Denso CorporationInventors: Masakazu Tanaka, Kinji Hodaira, Tatsuo Sakai, Hiroyuki Usami

Patent number: 5765369Abstract: An exhaust gas purifying apparatus with a failure diagnosis function is provided. A failure diagnosis device determines that the apparats is failed when the temperature rising speed of an adsorbing device is equal to a set value or less during a gas adsorption process and if the temperature rising speed is equal to an upper limit or more or to a lower limit or less during a gas desorption process. Further, a failure diagnosis device similarly monitors the flow passing through the adsorbing device. A failure diagnosis device determines that the apparatus is failed if the concentration of discharge gas is equal to a set value or more in a discharge passage. And further, a failure diagnosis device measures the concentration of discharge gas flowing through a return passage to accumulate the amount of discharge gas in order to determine that the apparatus is failed if the accumulated value is equal to a set value or less.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1995Date of Patent: June 16, 1998Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masakazu Tanaka, Hiroshi Mori, Mamoru Mabuchi, Hiroyuki Usami, Kinji Hodaira

Patent number: 5634332Abstract: Two flow paths separated by a partition wall having a bore formed downstream of a catalyst unit provided in an exhaust pipe of an internal combustion engine. Adsorption means for adsorbing an HC component of an exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine is provided in one of the flow paths. When a temperature of the exhaust gas is above a predetermined level, the exhaust gas flows through the other flow path by means of a change-over valve. Because the bore is provided in the partition wall, the adsorption means is exposed to the exhaust gas and the HC component adsorbed by the adsorption means is easily desorbed because of the high temperature of the exhaust gas. A one-way valve which repeatedly performs an opening/closing operation due to pulsation of the exhaust gas, is provided between recirculation flow pipes.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masakazu Tanaka, Hiroshi Mori, Makoto Saito, Mamoru Mabuchi, Hiroyuki Usami, Takahiko Yamamoto

Patent number: 5634333Abstract: In an automotive engine exhaust pipe having a main flow passage and a bypass flow passage, the exhaust gas flows through the bypass flow passage having an heater-provided catalyst when an engine starts. After a main catalyst reaches a catalytic activation temperature, a switching valve switches the exhaust gas to flow through the main flow passage. The main shaft is divided into a driven shaft inserted into a bearing hole and a driving shaft inserted into another bearing hole, and therefore, a total length thereof in an axial direction is shorter than a length of the main shaft without having segments. Therefore, even though the driven shaft and the driving shaft are deformed into the arch shape, a deformation amount thereof is reduced so that inner peripheries of the bearing holes are not rubbed against the shafts.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 1995Date of Patent: June 3, 1997Assignee: Nippondenso Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masakazu Tanaka, Hiroyuki Usami, Mamoru Mabuchi, Tatsuo Sakai, Kinji Hodaira
