  • Publication number: 20080129786
Abstract: An ink containing a hydrophobic colloid charged with a positive zeta potential when the pH of the ink is within a range of over 4 and under 6. Silicon or silicon compound can be limited from being eluted into the ink from a circuit board formed from a silicon wafer or the like. Additionally, silicon or silicon compound, if eluted into the ink can be prevented from being deposited on a resistance heater and causing “cogation”, or to prevent the silicon or silicon compound from being deposited in an ink channel and nozzle to clog the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 7373305
Abstract: A printer performs a printing operation by driving a cartridge to discharge ink. The ink in the printer is billed according to the amount of actual use of ink. In a service center, the head ID is first input. Then, the head ID is verified against the user ID. The amount of the use of ink is checked. Then, the billing amount for the actual use of ink is determined. The user is requested to pay for the cost.

  • Patent number: 7334863
Abstract: A liquid ejection head including a reusable nozzle cap and head cap unit that prevents ink from leaking during transport and storage. When the liquid ejection head is in use, the nozzle cap can be readily detached from the liquid ejection head without damaging an ejection surface of a nozzle sheet from which ink is ejected. The liquid ejection head can also be used with a large nozzle sheet. The nozzle cap is incorporated in the liquid ejection head that ejects ink in an ink reservoir through nozzles in the nozzle sheet. Stoppers are disposed below the ejection surface of the nozzle sheet to cover the nozzles, thereby preventing ink from leaking. The stoppers are composed of a resilient material that does not adhere to the nozzle sheet and that inhibits ink from passing therethrough.

  • Patent number: 7334885
Abstract: A distribution container containing storage liquid is mounted in a cartridge holding section of a line head to substitute for an ink cartridge during transportation and storage of the line head. The storage liquid prevents air from flowing into the line head through nozzles, and thereby avoids discharging failure, for example, no discharging or insufficient discharging of ink.
