The method further comprises determining whether the granted uplink resources are at least equal to or larger than the resources required for transmission of both a buffer status report (BSR) and a sidelink BSR, and upon determining that the granted uplink resources are at least equal to or larger than the resources required for transmission of both the BSR and the sidelink BSR, communicating the BSR and the sidelink BSR to the network node in a single medium access control (MAC) protocol data unit (PDU).
