Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for conducting wireless communication are provided. One method includes identifying a location of the apparatus. The method further includes obtaining spectrum usage data from a database. The spectrum usage data indicates a licensed entity licensed within an area including the location of the apparatus to communicate across a first sub-band of frequencies within a frequency band. The frequency band includes a plurality of channels each having a fixed width. The method further include determining a first set of one or more of the plurality of channels containing the first sub-band of frequencies over which the licensed entity is licensed to communicate. The method further includes conducting wireless transmissions on a second set of one or more of the plurality of channels that do not contain the first sub-band of frequencies while disabling wireless transmissions on the first set of channels.

One method includes identifying a location of a device and obtaining spectrum usage data from a database. The spectrum usage data indicates a licensed entity licensed within an area including the location of the device to communicate across a first sub-band of frequencies within a frequency band, and one or more transmission characteristics of the transmissions of the licensed entity. The method further includes determining beam steering characteristics for wireless transmissions of the device within the frequency band using the spectrum usage data. The beam steering characteristics are determined using the transmission characteristics for the licensed entity and configured to reduce interference with the transmissions of the licensed entity within the frequency band caused by the wireless transmissions of the device.

  • Publication number: 20180176789
Abstract: A wireless communication device includes an antenna circuit to receive communications over a communication medium, and circuitry coupled to the antenna circuit. The circuitry receives, via the antenna circuit, a physical layer convergence protocol protocol data unit (PPDU) transmission from another device, and determine whether the PPDU transmission is a spatial reuse (SR) transmission. The circuitry determines whether one or more SR transmission conditions are met when the PPDU transmission is an SR transmission. The circuitry transmits an acknowledgement message to the other device when the one or more SR transmission conditions are met.

  • Patent number: 9992785
Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for coexistence management. A first access point operating in an unlicensed frequency band using a first RAT receives, from a second access point operating in the unlicensed frequency band using a second RAT, information regarding operation of the second access point in the unlicensed frequency band. It is determined, using the received information, that the first access point or the second access point is using a first share of the unlicensed frequency band that is below a predetermined threshold, indicating an imbalance of usage between the first RAT and the second RAT. A transmission parameter of the first access point for operating in the unlicensed frequency band using the first RAT is adjusted according to the determination.

  • Patent number: 9686049
Abstract: A method and system for Bluetooth (BT) delayed acknowledgment is presented. Aspects of the system may include an initiator device, such as a WLAN access point (AP), which enables transmission of a protocol data unit, such as a BlockAckReq frame, to a responder device, such as a Smartphone, via a first network, for example a WLAN. The Smartphone may be equipped with capabilities that enable communication via WLAN and Bluetooth networks. The AP may wait to receive a response protocol data unit, such as a BlockAck frame, via the first network (WLAN) for a response time duration. The response time duration may be based on the communication slot time duration for communication by the Smartphone on a second network, for example a BT piconet. The communication slot time duration may correspond to the time duration for a BT slot.

  • Publication number: 20170142592
Abstract: In some aspects, the disclosure is directed to methods and systems for coexistence management. A first access point is scheduled a time to begin transmission of a packet to a user device in an unlicensed frequency band using a first RAT. The time to begin the transmission is scheduled to avoid transmission overlap with a second access point using a second RAT in the unlicensed frequency band, and scheduled according to information from the second access point regarding operation in the unlicensed frequency band using the second RAT. One of the first and second RATs includes one of a WLAN RAT or a LTE based RAT, and another of the first and second RATs includes a remaining one of the WLAN RAT or the LTE based RAT, in one or more embodiments. The first access point receives updated information regarding operation in the unlicensed frequency band using the second RAT.

  • Patent number: 8799692
Abstract: Aspects in a method and system for no buffered traffic indication for wireless local area network (WLAN) power save may enable a peer communication device to determine a time duration for remaining in an active operating state based on communication with other peer communication devices. In one aspect, a given peer communication device may determine that it has no data to communicate to any of the remaining peer communication devices. The given communication device may communicate to each of the peer communication devices that there is no data to transmit to the peer communication device. Each of the peer communication devices may communicate that there is no data to transmit to the given peer communication device. Based on the communications, the given peer communication device may exit the active operating state and enter a low power operating state.

  • Patent number: 8756291
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating information between networked devices. Various aspects of the present invention may comprise, for example, a first networked device communicating information over a wireless communication network to a second networked device having power-save mode capability. The first networked device receives an incoming message from the second networked device. A first outgoing message is transmitted to the second networked device prior to transmitting a previously queued outgoing message. A second outgoing message is transmitted to the second networked device prior to the previously queued outgoing message being transmitted. Information may be communicated to the second networked device in a particular manner that depends on whether the second networked device has power-save capability. Communication medium access may be performed in a particular manner, depending on whether the second networked device has power-save capability.

  • Patent number: 8743994
Abstract: A method for feeding back transmitter beamforming information from a receiving wireless communication device to a transmitting wireless communication device includes a receiving wireless communication device receiving a preamble sequence from the transmitting wireless device. The receiving wireless device estimates a channel response based upon the preamble sequence and then determines an estimated transmitter beamforming unitary matrix based upon the channel response and a receiver beamforming unitary matrix. The receiving wireless device then decomposes the estimated transmitter beamforming unitary matrix to produce the transmitter beamforming information and then wirelessly sends the transmitter beamforming information to the transmitting wireless device.
