  • Publication number: 20060072804
Abstract: A method of analyzing images of stained slides on a remote client computer connected to a wide area network such as the Internet includes the steps of scanning a stained slide to produce a digital image file of the stained slide and storing the digital image at a first location. An image viewer and analysis program is executed on a client computer in a location remote from the first location. A stored digital image from the first location is transferred to the client computer. A user selects a field from the stored digital image using the image and analysis viewer program. The field is then scored either manually or automatically. A user may also score a section of a field. Multiple fields and/or sections may be scored to achieve an overall score for the slide. A hardcopy report may be generated based on the scoring.

  • Publication number: 20050104607
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus for an electrochemical impedance measurement, and in particular circuitry and components employed for such measurements. The system employs an injected broadband AC signal to produce an associated response signal. The subsequent analysis of injected and response signals, considering both magnitude and phase, gives broadband impedance and therefore fluid characteristic information. An embodiment described is relative to a smart oil sensor system suitable for sensing, analyzing and reporting the condition of oil or other liquids used in equipment and machinery.

  • Publication number: 20050106439
Abstract: Method for processing an article comprising a mixed conducting metal oxide material, which method comprises (a) contacting the article with an oxygen-containing gas and reducing or increasing the temperature of the oxygen-containing gas; (b) when the temperature of the oxygen-containing gas is reduced, reducing the oxygen activity in the oxygen-containing gas; and (c) when the temperature of the oxygen-containing gas is increased, increasing the oxygen activity in the oxygen-containing gas.

  • Patent number: 6807528
Abstract: Many low bit rate digital audio encoding systems, including Dolby Digital and MPEG-2 AAC generate data streams in which unused dummy, fill, stuffing, or null bits exist whenever the bit allocation function in the encoder does not utilize all available bits from a bit pool. Instead, all or some of such wasted bits are used to carry information. This can be accomplished after an encoder generates a bitstream. The resulting bitstream is analyzed to identify the locations of some or all of the unused bits. Some or all of the identified unused bits are then replaced with information-carrying bits to embed information-carrying bits in locations formerly occupied by unused bits. Alternatively, instead of replacing some or all unused bits in the bitstream with information-carrying bits after encoding, a modified encoder may insert information-carrying bits in some or all of the unused bit positions during the encoding process.

  • Publication number: 20030164256
Abstract: A multi-purpose ground support vehicle for an aircraft comprises a four wheel drive land vehicle in which the main power unit is also connected to an aircraft services gearbox by a power take-off shaft to provide a self-propelled aerospace ground equipment facility in a variety of terrains. The aircraft services gearbox includes a plurality of service devices such as e.g. a hydraulic pump, an electrical generator, a low or high pressure air compressor etc.
