  • Publication number: 20130114454
Abstract: A method of using additional uplink measurements for MDT UL coverage is provided. A base station (eNodeB) establishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication network. The eNodeB and the UE are configured for Minimization of Drive Test (MDT). The eNodeB receives a Power Headroom Report (PRH) corresponds to a Physical Uplink Shared Channel (PUSCH) from the UE, and forwards the PHR to an MDT server. The eNodeB performs uplink measurement of a Demodulation Reference Signal (DM-RS) allocated in the PUSCH. The uplink measurement also involves measuring an uplink Received Interference Power (RIP) associated with the PUSCH. The eNodeB then reports uplink measurement results to the MDT server. The MDT server is able to determine uplink coverage based on the PHR and the uplink measurement results.

  • Publication number: 20130100840
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitter assisted Quality of Service (QoS) measurement. Time information is generated by the transmitter and transmitted along with a data transmission. A receiving device determines a QoS measurement based upon the time information and the received data. The time information indicates when the data was made available for transmission, which data transmission blocks belong to a single data transmission, and when a transmitter buffer was emptied. The QOS measurements are performance measurement such as, latency measurements and throughput measurements. The time information indicates a time reference relative to the timing of a wireless interface. The time reference is a System Frame Number (SFN), a Connection Frame Number (CFN), a relative count of frame numbers, a count of sub-frames, or a count of Time Transmission Intervals (TTIs). An aggregated QOS measurement is generated based upon the QOS measurement.

  • Publication number: 20130094568
Abstract: A method and apparatus for in-loop processing of reconstructed video are disclosed. The reconstructed video data is partitioned into image units. The image unit corresponds to a Largest Coding Unit (LCU), a slice, or a tile. Horizontal deblocking is applied to the reconstructed video data across vertical image-unit boundaries and then vertical deblocking operates on n pixels of horizontal-deblocked video data on each side of horizontal image-unit boundaries. According to various embodiments of the present invention, the horizontal deblocking is applied to at least one of said n reconstructed lines to generate at least a horizontal-deblocked line for line pn?1. Sample adaptive offset (SAO) processing is then applied to at least a horizontal-deblocked line for line pn based on the horizontal-deblocked line for line pn?1. The above steps are performed before a neighboring image unit below the current image unit arrives.

  • Publication number: 20130084809
Abstract: A method of throughput and data volume measurement for minimization of drive test (MDT) is proposed. A base station establishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection with a user equipment (UE) in a mobile communication network. The base station or UE measures transmitted or received data volume during a transmission time of a data burst between the base station and the UE. When the data burst spans multiple measurement periods and the data burst is split at each measurement period boundary. For each measurement period, data volume during the measurement period is measured to generate a measurement result. When throughput measurement is performed by the network, the base station receives location information that is available during the transmission time of the data burst. The data volume measurement is logged with time stamp such that each measurement result can correlated with the location information.

  • Publication number: 20130083683
Abstract: A method of network-based positioning using sounding reference signal (SRS) is proposed. An eNodeB configures a number of parameters of a periodic SRS transmission for a user equipment (UE). The eNodeB then transmits SRS configuration data for SRS measurements performed by a location measurement unit (LMU). The SRS configuration data includes cell-specific SRS bandwidth configuration and UE-specific SRS bandwidth configuration. The SRS configuration data may further include a number of antenna ports for SRS transmission, SRS frequency hopping bandwidth configuration, information on whether SRS sequence-group hopping is enabled, and ?SS when SRS sequence hopping is enabled. Upon receiving the SRS configuration data, the LMU is able to perform timing measurements over the received SRS signals from the UE. In one embodiment, the LMU detects SRS dropping to avoid performance degradation of the network-based positioning.

  • Publication number: 20130070596
Abstract: A method to realize IP flow mobility (IFOM) between 3GPP access and non-3GPP access over GTP based interfaces is proposed. A user equipment is connected to a PDN-GW via a 3GPP access network and a non-3GPP access network. The UE transmits an IFOM triggering message to the PDN-GW, which selects IP flows to be moved based on EPS bearer ID and IP flow description. The PDN-GW sends an Update Bearer Request to a WAG or ePDG, and updates its mapping table if the Update Bearer Request is successful. The UE also updates its mapping table upon receiving an IFOM acknowledgement from the WAG or ePDG. The PDN-GW initiates a 3GPP bearer modification procedure to move the selected IP flows.
