  • Patent number: 8704823
Abstract: An interactive multi-mesh modeling system allows users to employ a variety of modeling techniques to interactively create objects for a variety of different tasks or tools. Some of these different tasks or tools can have requirements for computer-generated representations of objects on which they operate. These requirements may differ from how some computer-generated representations were originally created (e.g., 3D solid objects output using solid modeling techniques vs. 2D flat “panel constructed” objects required for some computer simulations). Thus, the interactive multi-mesh modeling system may further employ a variety of techniques for taking a source computer-generated representation of an object and providing the automatic creation, management, and maintenance of instances or versions of the source. The interactive multi-mesh modeling system may further employ a variety of techniques for the automatic management and transfer of information defined thereon or associated with these meshes.

  • Patent number: 8649328
Abstract: A system and a method for controlling a power line network are provided. In the system and the method, a control unit device in every control network generates its own control network identification (CNID) and sends query messages to the other control networks to ensure each CNID is unique in the signal-reachable networks. The system and the method differentiate messages of the local control network from messages of the other control networks based on received signal strength of the messages in order to correctly demarcate multiple control networks.

  • Publication number: 20130346962
Abstract: A mechanism for deploying software over clouds is provided. The mechanism comprises the following steps. A source cloud platform stores a software project and builds up an environmental transfer configuration. The source cloud platform collects the settings of the software project and related resources to obtain a list file, and a target cloud platform receives the list file and assigns a corresponding data transmission status as un-transmitted. When the data transmission status is un-transmitted, the target cloud platform requests the source cloud platform for the software project. The source cloud platform transmits the software project to the target cloud platform. When the target cloud platform confirms that the software project has been received completely according to the list file, the target cloud platform accordingly installs the software project and builds up related resources.

  • Patent number: 8508535
Abstract: Systems and methods for positioning a component of an inverse kinematics (IK) controlled animated object relative to a surface object. To help users deal with foot-ground (or other object-object) interactions efficiently, a foot-ground locking system is provided as a preprocessor to an inverse kinematics (IK) controller to automatically pose the foot on the ground. The foot is first rotated to reach the maximal contact area with the ground, then translated to touch the ground, and finally deformed to conform more tightly to the ground. The system works properly with other foot shape deformations, such as toe, heel, and ball rotations. The foot-ground locking can be used either as an interactive tool to help animators identify where the ground is or as a batch postprocessing tool to clean up foot-ground contacts whenever the animation or ground environment is changed.
