A communication with the provider includes a header having user characteristics. The provider is configured to determine a content to provide to the mobile device based on the user characteristics in the header.

Abstract: A method of informing a portable electronic device of a number of available pre-paid text messages, comprising billing a pre-paid subscriber account for a predetermined number of text messages to be sent by a portable electronic device; incrementing a first count by an application executing on a computer based on the predetermined number of text messages purchased; determining by the application a second count indicating a remaining balance of text messages based on how many text messages have been one of received and sent by the portable electronic device since billing the pre-paid subscriber account based on the first count; and sending by the application a message comprising the second count to the portable electronic device.

A method for communicating active content of a mobile device to an external computing device is also provided. The method includes transferring data containing at least one of display definitions, navigational elements, and active content and presenting the transferred data in association with the external computing device.

Abstract: A service plan manager is provided, including a manager engine and a storage device to store data for a service account that comprises a pre-paid service plan associated with a first communication device and a post-paid service plan associated with a second communication device. The manager engine determines whether a balance associated with the pre-paid service plan is below a threshold, and communicates a request for increasing the balance to a device associated with the service account if the balance associated with the pre-paid service plan is below the threshold. The manager engine discontinues service for the first communication device until an approval of the request for increasing the balance is received, increases the balance in response to a receipt of the approval of the request for increasing the balance, and adds an amount associated with increasing the balance to an invoice associated with the service account.

Abstract: A system is provided for handset customer care. The system includes a handset, which includes a processor, a display, a dialer component, and a care component. The dialer component, when executed by the processor, intercepts a connection request associated with an entered number, and determines whether the entered number is associated with a specified service. The care component, when executed by the processor, provides service options to the display in response to a determination that the entered number is associated with the specified service. The care component also receives selection of at least one of the service options, and communicates with a server based on the selection. The handset connects to the entered number in response to a determination that the entered number is not associated with the specified service.

Abstract: A display package convertible to a mobile device holder is provided. The display package includes a display package first part, a display package second part, a retaining member, and a connecting member. The display package first part and the display package second part are connected to each other and foldable onto each other between a flipped-open state and a flipped-closed state. The retaining member releasably retains a mobile device, wherein the retaining member is shaped to engage the mobile device so as to restrain the mobile device in at least one of up, down, right, left and forward directions when the display package is in at least one of the flipped-open state and the flipped-closed state. The sidewalls of the main housing each have a surface free of parting lines. If the first mobile device selects to share the first push-to-talk contact identifier, the component determines whether the second mobile device selects to share a second push-to-talk contact identifier associated with the second mobile device with other mobile devices. The data store stores information associated with communication metrics for customers. The analysis component, when executed by the processor, determines a mean and a standard deviation for the communication metrics based on the stored information. The analysis component also determines whether the stored information associated with communication metrics for one of the customers is a predefined number of the standard deviation from the mean for more than a predefined number of days. The message component, when executed by the processor, sends a message to the one of the customers in response to a determination that stored information associated with the communication metrics for the one of the customers is the predefined number of the standard deviation from the mean for more than the predefined number of days.

The prepaid handset is associated with a prepaid handset identifier. The subscriber identity module is associated with a subscriber identity module identifier. The server communicates with a communication device to receive the prepaid handset identifier and the subscriber identity module identifier and determines whether both of the prepaid handset identifier and the subscriber identity module identifier are associated with prior activation. The server also applies credit to account information associated with the prepaid handset in response to a determination that both of the prepaid handset identifier and the subscriber identity module identifier are not associated with the prior activation, and activates the prepaid handset for user communication in response to applying credit to the account information associated with the prepaid handset.
