  • Patent number: 10021517
Abstract: A network device capable of performing rule-based actions dependent on geolocation-based conditions or realtime conditions from an external source. The network device can obtain its geolocation, obtain a rule based on a condition, query sources for and/or calculate updated statuses of the condition based on the geolocation, and perform actions based on the updated status of the condition, the geolocation, and the rule. The network device is capable of safely shutting down when voltage supplied to the network device falls outside of and acceptable range.

  • Patent number: 10014240
Abstract: An array includes a substrate having a frontside surface and a backside surface. A backside cavity is formed in the backside surface. Backside through vias extend through the substrate from the frontside surface to the backside surface. Embedded component through vias extend through the substrate from the frontside surface to the backside cavity. An embedded component is mounted within the backside cavity and coupled to the embedded component through vias. In this manner, the embedded component is embedded within the substrate. By embedding the embedded component within the substrate, the overall thickness of the array is minimized. Further, by electrically connecting the embedded component to the embedded component through vias, which are relatively short, the impedance between active surface ends of the embedded component through vias and the bond pads of the embedded component is minimized thus providing superior power management.

  • Patent number: 10003591
Abstract: A permissions management system is disclosed for enabling a user to securely authorize a third-party system to access user account data and initiate transactions related to a user account, without disclosing to the third-party system account credentials. The system enables the user to also securely de-authorize the third-party system. For example, records may be automatically generated that securely store account information, including one or more permissions related to the account and/or the third-party. A token associated with a record may be shared with the third-party system, but neither the record itself, nor the user account credentials, may be shared with the third-party. Accordingly, the third-party may request user account data and/or initiate transactions by providing the token, but does not itself know, e.g., the user account credentials. Further, the user may set various permissions related to the token, and may also revoke the token (e.g.

  • Patent number: 9977489
Abstract: Aspects of a low power memory buffer are described. In one embodiment, a sampling rate of a signal is adjusted to identify extrema of a signal. An extrema pulse is generated and, in response to the extrema pulse, a time segment and potential value of the signal are stored in a memory. In other aspects, rising and falling slopes of the signal are tracked to identify a local maximum and a local minimum of the signal. In this scenario, an extrema pulse is generated for each of the local maximum and minimum, and time segment and potential values are stored for the local maximum and minimum. Generally, the storage of analog values of the signal at an adjusted sampling rate is achieved with low power, and the signal may be reconstructed at a later time.

  • Publication number: 20180124903
Abstract: A network device for controlling an electric light or other remote electrical device. In addition to features found in standard light switches, such as cover plates, housings, switching elements, and internal wiring, the network device may include a cover plate with embedded cover circuitry for performing advanced functions unavailable to standard light switches. Functions performed by the cover circuitry include advanced electrical communication, data processing, user interfacing, sensing, displaying, rule creation, and the like. The cover circuitry may receive electric power via a set of contact elements located on the wall-facing side of the cover plate that electrically couple with a similar set of contact elements located on the room-facing side of the housing. The coupling of contact elements may form a set of buses that enable data communication between the cover circuitry and circuitry within the housing.

  • Patent number: 9858771
Abstract: Techniques can relate to generating inferences based on network devices' measuring of environmental data points and generating notifications or controlling devices based on the inferences. One or more environmental data points can be accessed. Each environmental data point in the one or more environmental data points can include one measured by a detector device and that characterizes a corresponding environmental stimulus. At least one of the environmental data points can be indicative of a light intensity or power usage measured by a first device. An inference can be generated based on the one or more environmental data points. A notification or device control can be identified based on the inference. A communication can be generated and transmitted to a second device. Receipt of the communication can cause the second device to present the notification or to be controlled in accordance with the device control.

  • Publication number: 20170366763
Abstract: An imaging system uses a dynamically varying coded mask, such as a spatial light modulator (SLM), to time-encode multiple degrees of freedom of a light field in parallel and a detector and processor to decode the encoded information. The encoded information may be decoded at the pixel level (e.g., with independently modulated counters in each pixel), on a read-out integrated circuit coupled to the detector, or on a circuit external to the detector. For example, the SLM, detector, and processor may create modulation sequences representing a system of linear equations where the variables represent a degree of freedom of the light field that is being sensed. If the number of equations and variables form a fully determined or overdetermined system of linear equations, the system of linear equations' solution can be determined through a matrix inverse. Otherwise, a solution can be determined with compressed sensing reconstruction techniques with the constraint that the signal is sparse in the frequency domain.
