Abstract: A communication system is configured to generate a perturbed signal by perturbing an amplitude of a spectrum of an original signal in one or more spectral regions, and to propagate the perturbed signal through components of the communication system. The communication system is further configured to obtain a measurement of the perturbed signal in a first spectral region of the one or more spectral regions following the propagation of the perturbed signal, and to calculate an estimate of an impairment associated with the communication system based on the measurement.

Abstract: A connector and associated system. In a first aspect, the connector comprises a patterned surface and a primary track. The patterned surface comprises a surface aperture pattern that is configured to receive at least one protruding element, the protruding element being configured to connect the connector to a first modular component. The primary track is connected to the patterned surface. The primary track can slidably engage a protruding element of a second modular component, thereby connecting the first modular component and the second modular component. In a second aspect, a system can comprise the connector, the first modular component and the second modular component.

Abstract: Fabrics that are exhibit water repellency, abrasion resistance, and optionally flame resistance are described herein. The fabrics include a plurality of fibers (such as flame resistant fibers) and a finish that imparts water repellency and abrasion resistance to the fibers. The fabrics are free or substantially free from alkylfluoropolymers. Also described herein are garments including the fabrics.

Abstract: Implementations are directed to using an assistant to initiate automated telephone calls with entities. Some implementations identify an item of interest, identify a group of entities associated with the item, and initiate the calls with the entities. During a given call with a given entity, the assistant can request a status update regarding the item, and determine a temporal delay before initiating another call with the given entity to request a further status update regarding the item based on information received responsive to the request. Other implementations receive a request to perform an action on behalf of a user, identify a group of entities that can perform the action, and initiate a given call with a given entity. During the given call, the assistant can initiate an additional call with an additional entity, and generate notification(s), for the user, based on result(s) of the given call and/or the additional call.

Abstract: An ear tip includes a body configured to be mounted onto an earbud. The body includes a first end, a second end opposite the first end, and an inner wall extending between the first and second ends. The inner wall defines and surrounds a hollow passage that is configured to conduct sound waves. The body also includes an outer wall that is connected to the inner wall at the first end and extends away from the inner wall toward the second end. The inner wall has an oblong cross-sectional shape that is configured to accommodate a corresponding nozzle on the earbud. The inner wall includes a ring that is formed of a rigid material and engages and conforms to the oblong shape of the nozzle, which inhibits improper mounting and rotation of the ear tip relative to the nozzle.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs stored on computer-readable media, for generating context data for an information card are disclosed. Upon receiving a selection of a data element to include in an information card, a plurality of dimensional view types available for the data element are determined and provided to a user. Upon receiving a selection of a dimensional view type from the plurality of dimensional view types, a set of attributes associated with the dimensional view type are determined and provided to the user. A selection of an attribute from the set of attributes is received, and a dimensional view is generated based on the selection of the dimensional view type and attribute.

Abstract: A gas delivery system, for providing gas to a wearer, includes a first body having a first cavity. The first body is supportable to a side of a nose and mouth of the wearer. A first adapter receives gas from a gas supply and provide the gas to the first cavity. A plurality of first openings in the first body to create a bolus of gas about the nostrils of the nose and the mouth. The first body, and a second similar body may be supported by an adjustable bridge on opposite sides of the nose and mouth of the wearer.

Abstract: Navigation assistance systems and methods for use with a surgical instrument to assist in navigation of a surgical instrument during an operation. The system may include sensors that may observe the patient to generate positioning data regarding the relative position of the surgical instrument and the patient. The system may retrieve imaging data regarding the patient and correlate the imaging data to the positioning data. In turn, the position of the surgical instrument relative to the imaging data may be provided and used to generate navigation date (e.g., position, orientation, trajectory, or the like) regarding the surgical instrument.

Abstract: A dual-layered midsole for footwear includes an internal midsole layer and an external midsole layer, which are coupled to and separated by a Strobel board. The internal midsole layer may compress and expand with the movement of a wearer of an article of footwear including the dual-layered midsole, while the external midsole may provide stability and cushion for the wearer. Materials selected for the internal and external midsole layers may provide tuned viscoelastic properties to different areas of the midsole as a function of midsole layer thickness at each sole area.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus to monitor mobile Internet activity are disclosed. An example apparatus includes at least one memory, machine-readable instructions, programmable circuitry to execute the machine-readable instructions to at least assign a first port of a proxy server to a mobile device associated with a panelist, cause transmission of configuration data to the mobile device to instruct the mobile device to transmit future requests the first port of the proxy server, obtain a first request for media on the first port originating from the mobile device, and after a determination that the first request originated from an Internet Protocol (IP) address associated with an IP address range representative of devices on a cellular network, service the first request, generate a data association, request the media from an Internet media provider identified in the first request, and cause transmission of the media to the mobile device.

Abstract: A variety of applications can include a high voltage switch configured to translate supply voltages or other voltages to specific magnitudes in memory devices, with the high voltage switch designed to provide enhanced lifetime of components of the high voltage switch. A high voltage switch can include a high voltage diode coupled to an output node and to a gate of a high voltage transistor coupled to the output node. The high voltage diode can provide feedback of an output voltage to the gate of the high voltage transistor to relieve Fowler-Nordheim stress on the dielectric coupled to the gate in the transistor, where large shifts in threshold voltage of the transistor could otherwise result from the Fowler-Nordheim stress. The high voltage diode can be structured using a high voltage field effect transistor. Additional devices, systems, and methods are discussed.

Abstract: A dry granulation process using a twin-screw extruder for granulating a powder mixture which includes at least one active ingredient and at least one carrier. The process includes steps of kneading the powder mixture in the screw barrel of the twin-screw extruder at a barrel temperature below a melting point of the at least one active ingredient and a melting point or a glass transition temperature of the at least one carrier to provide a kneaded powder mixture, and extruding the kneaded powder mixture to form granules. Granules and tablets produced using the dry granulation process in the twin-screw extruder are also provided.

Abstract: A rocker recliner is disclosed that has a pair of stationary arms; a seat disposed between the arms; an ottoman; a back coupled to the seat. A full-recline linkage mechanism couples the ottoman, the seat and the back and is operable to move the ottoman, the seat and the back between a closed position, a TV position and a fully reclined position. A rocker assembly is coupled between the full-recline linkage mechanism and the stationary arms that allows the seat, back and ottoman to rock between the stationary arms in any of the closed position, the TV position or the fully reclined position.
