Abstract: An input device is described which comprises a touch-sensitive surface and a force sensor, wherein the force sensor is adapted to detect a force applied to the touch-sensitive surface. The input device further comprises a vibration sensor and a control unit, wherein the control unit is coupled with the force sensor, the touch-sensitive surface and the vibration sensor. The control unit is adapted to validate a force detected by the force sensor as an input in dependence on a touch of the touch-sensitive surface and in dependence on a vibration detected by the vibration sensor. There is further described a motor vehicle which comprises such an input device. A method of detecting an input at an input device is further described.

The data structure may be embodied in a graphics processing subsystem, including: (1) a memory configured to store a material representation data structure according to which a material is declaratively represented by a property indicative of an interaction between the material and light, and (2) a processor operable to gain access to the memory and employ the property in a rendering procedure defined independent of the material representation data structure and designed to effect the interaction.

Abstract: Systems and methods for navigation using a sextant and an electronic artificial horizon are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method for determining a position of an observer includes: establishing a horizontal position of an artificial horizon mirror based on at least one accelerometer; aligning a sextant toward a celestial body; and measuring an altitude angle of the celestial body at least in part based on a portion of light from the celestial body being reflected from the artificial horizon mirror onto the sextant.

In general, data characterizing a request for content is received, a determination as to whether first security credentials authenticate a user is made, and, if so and the user is authorized to access or use the content, security is of the content is replaced. Replacing security may involve removing the security from the content in accordance with second security credentials. The removal of security may enable the user to perform actions to the content. The removal of security may be followed with an addition of security of a second type such that content is moved from a first trusted environment to a second trusted environment.

Abstract: A device and a method for simultaneous full-duplex data and power transmission over a single optical waveguide, which connects a base station and a remote station. At the base station a high power laser source emits a first laser beam for carrying power and a base station low power laser source emits a second laser beam for carrying data over the optical waveguide from the base station to the remote station. An optical interface couples the laser beams into the optical waveguide. The laser beams are received at corresponding first and second remote station optical receivers. At the remote station, a third laser beam is emitted by a remote station low power laser source for carrying data from the remote station to the base station and the beam is received at the base station optical receiver. The wavelengths of the first, second and the third laser beams are distinct.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for automatically preparing ground consumable plant material for smoking, wherein the apparatus can repeat the method quickly. The apparatus comprises an outer shell which protects the separating unit which is configured to hold the raw consumable material while simultaneously pushing micro bits of ground consumable material through small apertures, thus extracting all unwanted raw material. The separation unit further comprises a screen which the ground consumable material rolls over to aid in the collection of the consumable pollen. While the outer shell further comprises a funnel to aid in the delivery of the ground consumable material to a smoking device.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for automatically rolling a napkin around a set of dining utensils, wherein the apparatus can repeat the method quickly to individually wrap a plurality of sets of utensils in napkins. The apparatus comprises a housing for a first transfer unit for receiving a set of unwrapped utensil and a napkin and configured to automatically deliver the unwrapped utensils and napkin to a platform for wrapping. A lift plate holds a plurality of napkins and delivers a single napkin to unwrapped silverware. A rolling assembly rotatable around the unwrapped utensils and the napkin is configured to hold the utensils and to roll the napkin around the unwrapped utensils and to deliver the wrapped utensils to a second transfer unit configured to provide the wrapped utensils to a bin for storage.
