Abstract: Biomedical equipment data records for a medical institution are stored in a database and integrated with other information sources within and external to the institution. The equipment data may include identification of equipment components, departmental assignments, site locations, performance data, service data, and so forth. Additional information resources may include hospital information systems, departmental information systems, financial records, external reference materials, and reference data for similarly profiled institutions. The additional resources provide a basis for more detailed analysis, planning, and reporting of equipment inventory management, performance, and servicing.

Abstract: Method and apparatus inputting information identifying and classifying an article in an asset management database. A graphical user interface has a first screen showing a search field and a display window. A reference database has records, each record containing manufacturer, model and article type information for a respective class of articles. In response to the input of a manufacturer query in the search field, a list of entries is displayed in the display window. Each entry includes the same manufacturer identifier, a different model number, and one of multiple article types derived from the reference database. In response to selection of one of the list entries, a second screen appears having an empty data field for entry of an article identifier identifying an article made by a manufacturer identified by the manufacturer identifier and having the model number for the selected entry, and filled data fields containing the manufacturer identifier, model number and article type for said selected entry.

Abstract: An acetabular cup and method of securing the acetabular cup to an acetabulum so as to provide a bearing surface for a head portion of a femur is provided. The acetabular cup is shaped to provide a cementless, press-fit into a reamed acetabulum. The acetabular cup is formed of a body having a sidewall defining a radius from a center point of the annular rim to the sidewall wherein the radius increases in length from the apex to said annular rim. The method of securing the acetabular cup first includes reaming the acetabulum with a reamer having a head with a radius of curvature that is less than the radius from the center point to the annular rim of the acetabular cup.

Abstract: A articulating hemiarthroplasty prosthesis (10) for implantation into the human anatomy (14) is provided. The prosthesis includes a cup (12) for engagement with the human anatomy (14). The cup (12) has a portion (64) having a reduced thickness (T2) to permit at least a portion of the cup (12) to be mechanically separated from the cup (12) to form an opening (66) through the cup (12).

On the aromatic portion of the benzofuran ring, there may be a substituent or substituents including halogen, amino, lower-alkyl-substituted amino, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy and nitro. The substituents at the 2-position of the cyclohexane ring are --(CH.sub.2).sub.n NR.sup.1 R.sup.2 where n is 0, 1 or 2 and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently hydrogen and alkyl of 1-3 carbons. These compounds are useful as antidepressants and analgesics.Various other compounds which are useful as intermediates for preparing the aforementioned compounds and methods for preparing same are also described.

On the aromatic portion of the benzofuran ring, there may be a substituent or substituents including halogen, amino, lower-alkyl-substituted amino, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, hydroxy and nitro. The substituents at the 2-position of the cyclohexane ring are --(CH.sub.2).sub.n NR.sup.1 R.sup.2 where n is 0, 1 or 2 and R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each independently hydrogen and alkyl of 1-3 carbons.
