Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing particles with a length-width ratio of less than about 1.4 from a pharmaceutical substance, which method includes the following stages, that is: (a) provision of a melt of the pharmaceutical substance; (b) production of droplets of the melt by spraying into a processing chamber; (c) repeated guiding of solid particles past sprayed droplets in the processing chamber with the aid of a process gas jet which is guided in a defined way and whose temperature is fixed, depending on the solidification point of the melt, so that at least some of the droplets come into contact with particles and solidify thereon; (d) removal of particles from the processing chamber as a function of the particle size. The invention further relates to particles of pharmaceutical substances and the use thereof.

Abstract: A frame represents a concept with a set of roles and a set of linguistic rules. If a linguistic rule is satisfied, by a unit of natural language discourse (UNLD), the frame is invoked and a frame instance produced. A frame instance specifies how the UNLD, with particular values drawn from the UNLD, fulfills the roles of the frame. A frame-based search, of target content, is accomplished in response to a frame-based user query. The search result is comprised of records, where each record is a result of a match, of the frame-based query, at a location in the target content. If the frame-based query is implicit, a match requires only that the location of the target content invokes the appropriate frame. If the frame-based query is role-specific, in addition to invoking the appropriate frame, a query search term needs to be found in the value for a role of the frame instance produced.

Abstract: In a computer-implemented method of generating event notifications, in-home data is received. The in-home data and environment data (e.g., weather, law enforcement, etc.) is generated by, or based on information generated by, a device located at a residence of an individual, and is analyzed to determine whether it is indicative of an event that should be reported to one or more neighboring residences and/or businesses. If the data is indicative of such an event, a notification is generated and transmitted to the relevant residences and/or businesses.

Abstract: An oil sump, preferably made of plastic or metal, for motors or transmissions and having a filter housing, comprises a filter housing top shell, a filter housing bottom shell, a filter medium, a filter inlet, and a filter outlet, and an oil drain opening in the floor area of the oil sump, which is implemented in such a way that it is closable using an oil drain screw having external thread, which comes from the oil sump bottom side. The filter housing comprises an internal thread which is implemented to receive the external thread of the oil drain screw, the filter housing being at least partially fastened on the oil sump via the oil drain screw, which closes the oil drain opening and engages using its external thread in the internal thread on the filter housing side.

Abstract: Techniques are presented for producing demographics, in an automated fashion, from a search result of computer-accessible content. While the demographics can be determined for a research product that has been produced by any technique, they are particularly useful when applied to an automated frame-based search approach. Frame-based search engines are presented for technology profiling, healthcare-related search and brand research. Determination of a demographic proceeds at two levels: member and population. At the member level, a demographic characteristic can be determined applicable with either total or partial certainty. Each value assigned by a demographic, to a population member, has a confidence level associated with it and the assignments can be represented by a Confidence Distribution. Summarization of a demographic, at the population level, depends upon whether the certainty assignments, at the member level, are total or partial. Declarant Demographics are presented.

Abstract: Featured are methods and systems for reslicing-based nonrigid registration of multiparametric and modality images or objects. In such registration methods, global motion is modeled by multiple affine transforms (rigid), while local motion and slices matching is estimated using non-uniform radial reslicing of RTV to search for best match between reference volume slices and resampled target volume (RTV), orthogonally re-sliced to higher spatial resolution compared to the spatial resolution of the reference volume. The reference and target volumes can be in any plane and the method presented in this invention transfers them to target plane which can be any of axial, coronal, or sagittal and there is no need for the original and target scanning planes to be the same.

Immutable data structures are utilized and allow for parallel execution of sequential layout operations. In at least some embodiments, partial execution of the layout sequence can be performed to produce usable data.

Abstract: A display device comprising a display panel and a display cover plate positioned between the display panel and an observer. The display cover plate is housed within a protective frame (edge bracket) that protects edges of the display cover plate from damage. The edge bracket supports the edge portions of the display cover plate that are most likely to have flaws resulting from such operations as cutting and grinding, and minimizes flexing of the display cover plate, particularly at an edge, which could result in the formation of cracks at the flaw site and propagation of those cracks.

Abstract: Analysis is enabled, of a corpus of statements (such as those from social media), according to each statement's expression of sentiment about some kind of object. Object-specific corpuses are identified, where each object-specific corpus contains statements that refer to a same object. For each statement of an object-specific corpus, the polarity and intensity of sentiment expressed is determined. Net polarity and intensity measures are determined for each object-specific corpus and utilized to graph the corpus in a two-dimensional space. The area of the graphical symbol, representative of an object-specific corpus, can be proportional to the number (absolute or relative) of statements of the object-specific corpus. Brands can be compared, with each brand represented by an object-specific corpus. A single brand can have shown, relative to a temporal dimension, the net polarity, net intensity, or volume of its statements. Net polarity is shown to have a strong correlation with survey-based techniques.

Abstract: A brace and traction device and associated methods of operation. In one embodiment, the device incorporates a forwardly open head and jaw brace which is adjustably supported vertically above a forwardly collar member. The brace and the collar member are adapted such that the brace is able to mate with the collar member while still being able to rotate to the subject's left and right while remaining planar to the collar member. Adjustment may be accomplished for example manually or via an electronic motor controlled by a control mechanism and microprocessor. The microprocessor may be adapted to store information regarding a user's sessions, and facilitate communication with patient and physician personal devices, thus sending these data from recorded sessions. The processor element may also be adapted to implement therapy sessions based on physician-entered program specifications, or based on pre-programmed specifications.

Abstract: A method and system facilitate the one or more operating modes for monitoring of an intelligent home system. The method and system facilitate the detection of an adverse condition in a building, the generation of an alert based on the detection of adverse condition, sending a notification to a user about the alert, asking the user how to respond to the alert via a message sent to a mobile device, and determining whether to send the alert to a central monitoring system to facilitate notification of an appropriate responder for the adverse condition. Determining whether to send the alert to the central monitoring system may be based on an affirmative command from the user or a failure to receive any command from the user. The user may be notified via at least one of a telephone call, text message, email, or application notification. The user may provide instructions to the method and system via at least one of a telephone call, text message, email, application command, or web script.

Abstract: Embodiments of methods, apparatuses, and storage mediums associated with eye movement based knowledge demonstration, having a particular application to authentication, are disclosed. In embodiments, a computing device may determine whether a received input of a pattern of eye movements is consistent with an expected pattern of eye movements of a user when the user attempts to visually locate a piece of information embedded in a display. In embodiments, the expected pattern of eye movements may include patterns related to fixations and/or other statistical patterns, however, may not be limited to such patterns. In applications, determining consistency or correlation with the expected pattern of eye movements may identify the user by simultaneously verifying at least factors of authentication—that of biometric criteria related to a user's pattern of eye movements and a password or other information known to the user.

Abstract: A trial based layout builder generates multiple trial multi-column layouts for content until a multi-column layout that satisfies particular criteria for multi-column balancing is generated. Multiple trial multi-column layouts can be generated in parallel based on different boundaries until a layout that does satisfy the criteria is identified. Different elements of the content laid out in different trial multi-column layouts can be reused in subsequently generated trial multi-column layouts. The content can also optionally be separated into multiple different portions at various break points, and trial multi-column layouts for the different portions can be generated in parallel. Additionally, if a trial multi-column layout for one of the portions that satisfies the particular criteria is identified, the content in that portion can be displayed while continuing to attempt to identify a layout for the content of the other portion that satisfies the one or more criteria.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for continuously treating solids in a fluidized bed apparatus, comprising a round process chamber with a solids inlet and a solids outlet, and a distributor plate which is adapted to the inner contour of the process chamber and beneath which a media inlet is arranged to produce and maintain the fluidized bed. According to the invention, on the distributor plate (1) there is a separating wall (2) that protrudes radially inwards from the process chamber (3, 9) inner wall (10) and into the process chamber (3, 9). The solids inlet (5) is located on one side close to the separating wall (2), and the solids outlet (6) is on the other side close to the separating wall (2). It is particularly advantageous to arrange, on the distributor plate (1) and along the axis of the process chamber (9), a displacer element (8) that is connected to the separating wall (2).

Abstract: An apparatus for protecting the face, head, and neck of a user against hazards including an eye protector with a lower area and an upper area for protecting the eye area of a user from hazards and a face protector having at least one fastener for removably attaching the upper edge area of the face protector to the lower edge area of an eye protector. The fastener sealably fastens the area between the face protector and the eye protector so that the face area and the eye area are protected from hazards. Other configurations may be used to protect other areas of the user's body and the fasteners may be magnetic, hook and look or any other suitable type of fastener. The eye protector may also be configured with a removeably attachable lens and the one or more removably attachable light emitters positioned on the outwardly facing surface of said face protector may also be used. Systems and methods of using the apparatus are also disclosed.
