  • Publication number: 20090285006
Abstract: A semiconductor memory has a plurality of read amplifiers to which a pair each of two complementary bit lines is connected, wherein the semiconductor memory includes at least one switching element each for each bit line, by which at least a partial section of the bit line may be electrically decoupled from the read amplifier, and wherein the semiconductor memory controls the first switching element so that the first switching element, when reading out and/or refreshing any memory cell connected to the bit line, temporarily electrically decouples at least the partial section of the bit line from the read amplifier.

  • Publication number: 20080206276
Abstract: Immunogenic compositions and methods for eliciting an immune response against S. epidermidis and other related staphylococci are provided. The immunogenic compositions can include immunogenic conjugates of poly-?-glutamic acid (such as ?DLPGA) polypeptides of S. epidermidis, or related staphylococci that express a ?PGA polypeptide. The ?PGA conjugates elicit an effective immune response against S. epidermidis, or other staphylococci, in subjects to which the conjugates are administered. A method of treating an infection caused by a Staphylococcus organism that expresses cap genes is also disclosed. The method can include selecting a subject who is at risk of or has been diagnosed with the infection by the Staphylococcus organism which expresses ?PGA from the cap genes. Further, the expression of a ?PGA polypeptide by the organism can then be altered.

  • Publication number: 20080115212
Abstract: Several interrelated methods are described for guaranteeing the authenticity of a fuel cartridge that will supply methanol, hydrogen, or other fuel to a fuel consuming device apparatus. Specific fuel consuming device constructions must mate with specially designed fuel cartridges to ensure that the fuel will flow properly, that the fuel supplied is of sufficient quality and composition as required, and that will be leak-proof during storage, transport, and use. Several designs that will meet all of these requirements are described below. Each of the fuel cartridge designs will result in an acceptance by the fuel consuming device if the authentication criteria are met and rejection of the cartridge if they are violated.

  • Publication number: 20070196824
Abstract: Processes and methods for the simultaneous quantification of nucleic acids in diseased cells that are based on real-time PCR are provided. The real-time PCR protocol is an excellent tool for reliable quantification of in vitro drug screening and evaluation protocols to determine the efficacy of potential anti-viral agents. Quantification using these simultaneous PCR cycle threshold (Ct) detection techniques during one-step real-time RT-PCR (Applied Biosystems, CA) eliminates the variability resulting from quantification of end-point RT-PCR products. In addition, the mitochondrial toxicity assay is an added tool to assess potential side-effects for these chemotherapeutic agents.

The reservoir includes a holding tank, at least one outlet extending from and one return line extending to the reservoir, an in-tank return line within the reservoir and extending to one return line, and an in-tank return line filter element mounted within the in-tank return line. The in-tank return line filter element includes an end cap, a filter media and a by-pass valve coupled thereto. The end cap includes a central fluid opening, a mounting surface for the filter media, and a peripheral attaching mechanism for attaching the filter element to the in-tank return line to form a filter assembly. The mounting surface is positioned between the central opening and the attaching mechanism such that an in-line, in-tank filter element is provided.

  • Publication number: 20070136489
Abstract: A method for processing packets in a multi-processor environment, that includes receiving a set-up request packet for a communication session and directing the set-up request packet to a selected one of a plurality of processors. A set-up reply packet is generated at the selected one of the plurality of processors, the set-up reply packet including a virtual identifier assigned to the selected one of the plurality of processors. The set-up reply packet is transported to establish the communication session.

  • Publication number: 20010047707
Abstract: A pipe cutting machine includes a frame, a cutting blade mounted on the frame and movable in a predetermined direction for cutting apart a pipe and at least one clamping fitting having clamping jaws for clamping the pipe to be cut by the cutting blade. The clamping fitting is positioned obliquely with respect to the frame and to the direction of movement of a tip on the cutting blade such that clamping gaps defined by clamping jaws of the clamping fitting are angularly displaced from an exit point of the blade tip on the pipe and thereby one of the clamping jaws provides a backing abutment for the pipe disposed adjacent to the exit point of the blade tip so that impingement of the blade tip on the pipe at the exit point will not produce deformation of the pipe.
