  • Patent number: 5653703
Abstract: A disposable absorbent article having a transverse partition. The transverse partition is upstanding from the topsheet and presents an abrupt discontinuity out of the plane of the disposable absorbent article and obstructs fecal material deposited in the rear portion of the disposable absorbent article from migrating to the from portion of the disposable absorbent article. This obstruction minimizes soiling of the genitalia of the wearer. The disposable absorbent article may have upstanding barrier leg cuffs. The transverse partition may connect the barrier leg cuffs to form an H-shape. The transverse partition forms an acute angle with the rear portion of the disposable absorbent article.

  • Patent number: 5348547
Abstract: An absorbent article having a dual-layer absorbent member, wherein the deposition region of its upper acquisition layer comprises a distribution zone and an acquisition zone having a lower average density and a lower average basis weight per unit area than the distribution zone. The acquisition zone is positioned toward the front of either the absorbent member or the absorbent article so that the acquisition zone may most effectively and efficiently rapidly acquire discharged liquids. The lower storage layer comprises a mixture of hydrophilic fibrous material and discrete particles of absorbent gelling material having a particular size distribution so as to enhance the absorbent capacity and acquisition rate of the dual-layer absorbent member. The upper acquisition layer comprises a homogeneous composition of stiffened, twisted, and curled cellulose fibers which provide enhanced wicking action in the densified distribution zone.

A cup is provided to be affixed to the underside of the pool cover and to receive the top of the pole. The cup has a concave receptacle and the top of the pole has a convex, rounded end that conforms generally to the shape of the receptacle. Apertures are provided in the cup and the top of the pole for receiving a pin to interconnect the two.
