  • Patent number: 8699860
Abstract: A first media service is acquired in response to a scheduled acquisition command, where the acquiring operation is performed by a user receiver. The time the acquiring operation takes place depends on information in the command, which indicates when the acquiring operation is supposed to take place and when operation terminates. The receipt of a non-scheduled command by the user receiver causes the acquisition of a second media service, where upon the expiration of the non-scheduled command, the first media service is re-acquired. Upon the expiration of the scheduled command, a third media service is automatically acquired, where the third media service was previously selected by a user.

  • Patent number: 8678616
Abstract: A lighting luminaire for use in a refrigerated display case includes an LED mounting portion comprising a plurality of light emitting diodes (“LEDs”) mounted thereon, a reflector, and a lens. The LED mounting portion and reflector are sized and arranged to form a reflective cavity for diffusing and directing light from the plurality of LEDs through the lens and out of the luminaire. The LED mounting portion and reflector are either attached to each other as separate components or are integrally formed. The lens is held in place in the luminaire between the LED mounting portion and the reflector or is mounted directly on the LED mounting portion over the plurality of LEDs. The LED mounting portion and/or reflector have a reflective surface for reflecting light emitted by the LEDs. Methods for retrofitting an existing luminaire in a refrigerated display with an LED luminaire are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20140075184
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to securing data in the cloud, securely encrypting data that is to be stored in the cloud and to securely decrypting data accessed from the cloud. In one scenario, an instantiated trust service receives information indicating that a trust server is to be instantiated. The trust service instantiates the trust server, which is configured to store key references and encrypted keys. The trust service receives the public key portion of a digital certificate for each publisher and subscriber that is to have access to various specified portions of encrypted data. A data access policy is then defined that specifies which encrypted data portions can be accessed by which subscribers.

  • Publication number: 20140025331
Abstract: A system is provided for correlating evidence grids. In certain embodiments, the system includes a sensor that generates signals describing a current section of an environment; a memory configured to store measurements of historical sections of the environment; and a processor coupled to the sensor and configured to calculate navigation parameters based on signals received from the sensor. Further, the processor converts the signals received from the sensor into a current evidence grid and removes data from the current evidence grid to form a reduced evidence grid; converts the measurements of historical sections into a historical evidence grid; and correlates the reduced evidence grid with the historical evidence grid by adjusting position and orientation of the reduced evidence grid and the historical evidence grid in relation to one another and calculating correlative values, and searching for a highest correlative value.

  • Publication number: 20140022262
Abstract: A method for navigation comprises constructing a current map that includes two-dimensional or three dimensional representations of an area, detecting one or more edge features on the current map, and generating a first fine-edge map based on the edge features. The method further comprises retrieving a historical map that includes two-dimensional or three dimensional representations of the area, detecting one or more edge features on the historical map, and generating a second fine-edge map based on the edge features. Thereafter, a coarse version of the current map is generated from the first fine-edge map, and a coarse version of the historical map is generated from the second fine-edge map. The coarse versions of the current and historical maps are then correlated to determine a first position and orientation. The first fine-edge map is then correlated with the second fine-edge map to determine a second, more accurate, position and orientation.

  • Patent number: 8629365
Abstract: Apparatus and methods consistent with the present invention provide for identifying and processing mail using an identification code on a mailpiece as a redundant source of identification information in a mail sorting system. In one embodiment, this information is stored in a temporary database and used for the identification and processing of mail in a Remote Bar Code System (RBCS). In this embodiment, the identification code enables the automation of mail sorting and other processing tasks, reducing costs and delays in mail delivery services. In another embodiment, the identification and processing of mail occurs in and identification Code Sorting (ICS) system. In this embodiment, a long-term database allows for mail sorting and other processing tasks on a national or global level.

  • Publication number: 20130312874
Abstract: A resin infusion repair device and method for repairing a wooden boat deck having a repair area that includes voids between the planking of the boat deck and the as built surface under the boat deck planking. A vacuum cover provides an airtight cover of the repair area. A vacuum suction line is inserted into the vacuum cover. A vacuum pump is connected to the vacuum suction line and provides vacuum suction at the repair area. A resin supply line is inserted through the vacuum cover. A resin supply source is connected to the resin supply line. The vacuum pump provides a vacuum suction that draws resin from resin supply source through the resin supply line and into the repair area so that the voids are all filled with the resin. In a preferred embodiment, the wooden boat deck is a teak boat deck.

  • Publication number: 20130294072
Abstract: A light fixture including an electronic housing and at least one optical chamber positioned on each side of the electronic housing. In some embodiments, the optical chambers are positioned a distance from the electronic housing so as to avoid creation of a thermal path between the optical chambers and the electronic housing. Each optical chamber includes a heat sink and a plurality of LEDs mounted on a PCB that is, in turn, mounted on the heat sink. A reflector is positioned over at least a portion of the PCB. In some embodiments, vents extend through the heat sink and a fin extends upwardly from the heat sink and angles at least partially over at least some of the vents. In use, air enters the optical chambers and exits the fixture through the top vents in the heat sink. The air circulates over the reflector, carrying heat from the reflectors during the process. Heat is also conducted to the air from the heat sink.

  • Publication number: 20130193224
Abstract: A nacelle is configured to be coupled to an underside of a wing and forms a clearance space between the nacelle and a leading edge slat of the wing. A portion of an outlet cowling moves longitudinally aft when a reverse thrust configuration is activated and the leading edge slat is deployed toward the nacelle. The outlet cowling also includes another portion located adjacent to the leading edge slat that does not move when the reverse thrust configuration is activated and thus maintains its clearance space from the leading edge slat.
