  • Publication number: 20220405881
Abstract: Processing image data using deep neural networks is critical to many systems that desire to understand objects and their environment using camera sensors. Image scaling is a fundamental processing task required when managing image data. Although it is possible to scale image data using standard computer or graphics processors it would be highly advantageous in terms of throughput, latency and power consumption to manage image scaling using dedicated neural network hardware. The inventions contained herein provides methods to use existing neural network hardware to preform image scaling functions. Further, the inventions contained herein describe additional circuitry that can be added to neural network hardware to further enhance image scaling capabilities and efficiencies.

  • Publication number: 20220397303
Abstract: A vent attachment facilitates attaching a coaxial air intake and exhaust vent of a tankless water heater to a Category I vent, such as B-vent. The vent attachment comprises a first end with a coaxial connector comprising a central exhaust pathway and a circumferential air intake pathway. The vent attachment also comprises a second end with a tubular exhaust vent connector in fluid communication with the central exhaust pathway. The vent attachment further comprises a frame that encloses the central exhaust pathway and comprises a mesh configured to provide fluid communication through the frame with the air intake pathway. Additionally, operation of the tankless water heater is modified to ensure that the exhaust generated is suitable for venting through a Category I vent. The tankless water heater maintains a high fuel consumption rate such that the temperature of hot water produced increases throughout each of a plurality of burner stages.

  • Patent number: 11514139
Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for managing registrations of computers. The methods and systems provide a registration tool that may be used to automatically register the computers. For each computer to be registered, information uniquely identifying the computer is collected and sent to a remote registration server. The information is then used by the remote registration server to perform the registration on behalf of the computer. The registration may be with a software vendor, a third-party database, or with the remote registration server itself in some cases. The registration server thereafter returns a registration code or other information to the computer to complete the registration. Such an arrangement allows the registration process to be controlled from a central location.

  • Publication number: 20220373192
Abstract: A water heater system includes a controller configured to integrate control of both recovery and recirculation operations of a recovery pump and a recirculation pump. As such, a separate device, installation location, and power source (e.g., available outlet) is not needed with the controller. Because a single controller is configured to control both recovery and recirculation operations, additional control functions are available. The controller may be in communication with an internal controller of the water heater and configured to receive an error notification upon abnormal operation of the water heater. The controller can stop recovery and recirculation operations in response to an error notification, unlike with traditional water heating systems which may otherwise continue to function. The recovery and recirculation operations are based on a setpoint temperature of the water heater such that changes made to the setpoint temperature will automatically adjust in the recovery and recirculation operations.

  • Publication number: 20220370184
Abstract: A biocompatible membrane composite including a cell impermeable layer and a mitigation layer is provided. The cell impermeable layer is impervious to vascular ingrowth and prevents cellular contact from the host. Additionally, the mitigation layer includes solid features. In at least one embodiment, mitigation layer has therein bonded solid features. In some embodiments, the cell impermeable layer and the mitigation layer are intimately bonded or otherwise connected to each other to form a composite layer having a tight/open structure. A reinforcing component may optionally be positioned external to or within the biocompatible membrane composite to provide support to and prevent distortion. The biocompatible membrane composite may be used in or to form a device for encapsulating biological entities, including, but not limited to, pancreatic lineage type cells such as pancreatic progenitors.

  • Publication number: 20220349276
Abstract: A downhole tool includes a housing configured to be connected between two tubular members. The housing includes a chamber and a plug assembly is disposed in the chamber and divides the chamber into an up-hole portion and a downhole portion. The plug assembly includes a glass member having a predetermined residual surface compression, at least a first face, and at least one strength-reducing surface feature on the first face. The strength-reducing surface feature is configured to cause the glass member to disintegrate when the glass member is exposed to a pressure in the up-hole portion of a magnitude that creates a tensile stress on the first face that exceeds the predetermined residual surface compression.

  • Patent number: 11487545
Abstract: A processor branch prediction circuit employs back-invalidation of prediction cache entries based on decoded branch instructions. The execution information of a previously executed branch instruction is obtained from a prediction cache entry and compared to generated decode information in an instruction decode circuit. Execution information of branch instructions stored in the prediction cache entry is updated in response to a mismatch of the execution information and the decode information of the branch instruction. Existing branch prediction circuits invalidate prediction cache entries of a block of instructions when the block of instructions is invalidated in an instruction cache. As a result, valid branch instruction execution information may be unnecessarily discarded. Updating prediction cache entries in response to a mismatch of the execution information and the decode information of the branch instruction maintains the execution information in the prediction cache.
