  • Patent number: 9410782
Abstract: A multi-step separator for a fuze is configured to be mated to an explosive device in a military munition, either at a production facility during manufacture of the munition or during use in the field. The fuze includes a detonator with a booster or spit-back element for initiating an energetic sequence resulting in a high-order detonation of the explosive device. The multi-step separator includes: (a) a fuze-munition interface device for retaining the fuze in a confined, close relationship with the explosive device and for releasing the fuze when and if it is subjected to an external stimulus that may cause it to detonate the explosive device; and (b) a separating device for physically distancing the fuze from the explosive device when and if the fuze is released.

  • Patent number: 9382840
Abstract: In various embodiments, an engine crankshaft is disclosed. The engine crankshaft comprises a rear bearing journal. The rear bearing journal has an output end. The rear bearing journal defines a substantially cylindrical cavity extending from the output end into the rear bearing journal. The engine crankshaft may further comprise at least one torque sensor operatively coupled to the rear bearing journal. The at least one torque sensor is configured to generate a torque signal corresponding to a torque exerted on the rear bearing journal. The torque exerted on the rear bearing journal is indicative of a torque output of an engine.

  • Publication number: 20160161217
Abstract: A system for correcting the aim of a weapon which is operative to launch a projectile from a barrel on a ballistic path toward a target. A rear surface of the projectile is coated with a fluorescent dye that re-emits radiation when excited by laser radiation. The system includes a source of laser radiation (strobe) pulses that form a cone of light intersecting the ballistic path of the projectile. The strobe pulses are emitted at predetermined times (T1, T2, T3, . . . Tn) following firing of the projectile (at time T0). An optical detector receives the radiation re-emitted by a the fluorescent dye at the rear of the projectile at times (T1z, T2z, T3z, . . . Tnz) producing measurable location signals allowing the system to measure the vertical and lateral positions of the projectile at said times, where “z” is a re-emission delay and T1z, T2z, T3z, . . . Tnz are the respective times T1, T2 , T3, . . . Tn each delayed by amount z.

  • Publication number: 20160132849
Abstract: A method and system for transferring media on demand to a mobile computing device of a consumer is presented. A sensor in a kiosk identifies a consumer by facial recognition algorithms or identification of the mobile computing device of the consumer. An interactive display presents media that is available for download by the consumer based at least in part on the identity of the consumer. The consumer touches their mobile computing device to a short range communications interface on the kiosk which transfers the media to the mobile computing device. The media can be streamed to the kiosk from a remote content server across a network. The kiosk can process the consumer payment for the downloaded media by sending payment transactions to a payment network.

  • Publication number: 20160055652
Abstract: Systems to measure muzzle exit conditions of for ammunition improve fire control solutions and reduce shot-to-shot dispersion in both conventional and air-burst programmable ammunition. A first system optically measures coordinate grids on a projectile to measure the initial boundary conditions of external ballistic flight. A second system measures muzzle velocity and, when firing “post-shot” programmable ammunition, the systems calculates a unique time-of-flight optimized for the actual muzzle velocity and transmits the time to detonate signal by using either optically or Radio Frequency signals transmits an optimized time of burst to a projectile. A third system measures muzzle velocity coupled to a ballistic calculator and, when used with ammunition having ferrous characteristics, the force is applied to exiting ammunition to slow or increase the muzzle velocity to a consistent, standardized target velocity.

  • Patent number: 9250035
Abstract: A system for precision aiming of a weapon that has a rail, aligned with a centerline of its barrel, with a bus for supplying power to, and providing communication between, a plurality of modular system components that are mounted and precisely aligned in an array on the rail. A core component receives data from the sensor components via the rail and produces an output for display of aiming data which allows an operator to precisely aim the weapon at a selected target.

  • Patent number: 9216363
Abstract: A flying toy figurine includes a main body having an upper body portion, a lower body portion and a middle body portion, the middle body portion including a waist portion and a hip portion. A center shaft connects the upper body portion to the lower body portion, and the waist portion and the hip portion are mounted for independent rotation about the center shaft. A motor drives a rotor assembly, including at least two main propeller blades, located in the waist portion in one direction for imparting vertical aerodynamic lift to the figurine. Rotation of the waist portion in one direction causes the hip portion to counter-rotate in the opposite direction. The center shaft is not connected to the waist portion or the hip portion and therefore rotation of the upper body portion and lower body portion remains independent of the rotation of the waist portion and the hip portion.

  • Patent number: 9217627
Abstract: A practice ammunition projectile has a projectile head with one or more sheets of plastic material, each having a plurality of frangible “bubble shaped” compartments containing liquid chemical components for optical and/or Infrared marking of a target upon impact. The sheets are preferably flexible sheets in the nature of a “bubble wrap” of the type used as padding for packaging. These so-called “matrix packages” are installed adjacent the inner surface of the shell forming the projectile head and provide stability when the compartments break up upon setback when the projectile is fired from a weapon.

  • Publication number: 20150339619
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for automatically updating work schedules includes distributing a first plurality of work schedules to a work crew. The method further includes receiving productivity updates from the work crew, the productivity updates indicative of an actual amount of work accomplished by the work crew in the first time period, and, based on one or more differences between the actual amount of work and the estimated amount of work, updating the one or more initial estimates of productivity. Still further, the method includes causing a schedule generator to generate a second plurality of work schedules based on the one or more updated estimates of productivity, and distributing the second plurality of work schedules to the work crew.
