  • Patent number: 6595528
Abstract: A chuck for the clamping of tools by shrink fit includes a chuck member which has a longitudinal section having a central receptacle with clamping surface for the insertion and holding of the tool to be clamped with its shank. The longitudinal section includes a plurality of segments arranged at distances from one another in the circumferential direction and separated from each other by clearances in between, the segments extending essentially axially parallel and forming the clamping surface with their inner peripheral areas. The segments are surrounded on the outside by a sleeve part. The segments are either in one piece with the sleeve part or, as separate structural elements, are a component of a mounted insert.

  • Patent number: 6588083
Abstract: Form-transmitting clamping of a tool with a shaft in an opening of the tool receptacle by shrinking with heating and cooling and adjustment of an axial insertion depth of a shaft in an opening of the tool receptacle, the method includes placing a movable contact piece on a free end of a tool for positioning the tool coaxially to the tool receptacle, clamping the tool between the contact piece on the one hand and a counterforce which acts opposite on the tool and oppositely to an insertion of the tool in the opening of the tool receptacle on the other hand before starting a heating, retaining the shaft clamped during the heating, and stopping the heating after reaching a predetermined nominal value during insertion of the shaft in the opening of the tool receptacle.

  • Patent number: 6511077
Abstract: A clamping chuck for clamping tools by shrinkage has a chuck body provided with a receptacle for receiving a tool to be clamped with a tool shaft and having an end-side abutment surface for the insertable tool so that during insertion a rear-side shoulder of the tool axially abuts against the abutment surface and a ring element and axially supportable against the chuck body in an axial direction and provided with an abutment surface, the abutment surface of the ring element being located forwardly at an end axially adjoining the abutment surface of the chuck body, to be associated with the shoulder of the tool, for axial clamping of the inserted tool by means of the ring element with respect to the chuck body.

  • Patent number: 6297747
Abstract: A tool holder for holding a tool has at least one sensor for measuring an operating parameter of the tool holder or the tool during the operation thereof and generating measured value signals which are fed to a signal processing unit for evaluation. The sensor is a surface acoustic wave sensor operating according to acoustic wave principles and its measured value signals are readable in a contactless manner by means of radio waves. The surface acoustic wave sensor requires no current supply circuit but instead draws transmission energy required for transmission of the measured value signals to the signal processing unit from a high frequency interrogation signal, that is transmitted by radio waves from the signal processing unit and is received by the surface acoustic wave sensor.
