  • Publication number: 20080080465
Abstract: It is provided a solution for selecting the length of a transmission time interval for high-speed packet radio communications between a base station and a mobile station. The length of the transmission time interval used in data transfer is selected on the basis of channel conditions between the mobile station and the base station. An average value for a channel quality metric representing the channel conditions is calculated and the calculated average value of the channel quality metric is associated with a pre-determined length of the transmission time interval. That length of the transmission time interval is then selected for the data transfer between the mobile station and the base station.

  • Publication number: 20070265016
Abstract: Resources are allocated on a shared downlink control channel by an allocation table that is partitioned into a first, fixed length partition and into at least one second, variable length partition. The fixed length and the modulation and coding scheme MCS of the first partition is known a priori. The second variable length and the MCS of the second partition may be given in the first partition. Robustness may be varied between different second partitions of the same allocation table, or even within a single second partition to account for users at different proximity to the network node giving the allocations. Users may be identified in the first partition (e.g., a fixed number of users), and/or in the second partition (either additional allocated users or all users being allocated if the first partition does not identify users). Method, apparatus, computer program, integrated circuit and systems are detailed.

  • Publication number: 20070064608
Abstract: A radio link service profile is defined as a set of parameters for upper layer transport of an IP packet, and may be associated with a logical channel flow identifier. A data packet is sent over a wireless logical channel that is identified by the LCID between a base station and a user equipment. The association of RLSP, whether created or invoked form a memory, is coordinated among the BS and the UE without the need to involve the radio network controller, and if the RLSP does not have a diffserv field on the uplink, the BS adds it prior to forwarding the data packet. A method, device (both BS and UE), computer program product, and system are described in multiple embodiments.

  • Publication number: 20060062223
Abstract: A method for implementing a stall avoidance mechanism during uplink transmission of data blocks from transmitter to a receiver includes first determining a missing data block in response to a successful receipt of a received data block at the receiver. Once the missing data block is determined, the receiver requests retransmission of the missing data block. The receiver starts a timer when the request for retransmission is made such that the timer has a time value based on the number of reception attempts of the received data block made by the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20050185651
Abstract: Data is structured with information indicative of time-related, bandwidth-related, or class-related quality-of-service (QoS) required for sending the data so that a receiving terminal or any network element processing the data in transit over a network is able to determine whether the required quality-of-service has actually been uniformly experienced by the data and, in case the quality-of-service is degraded in any section of the network, the receiving terminal or the network element is able to cause the network to either uniformly accord to the data a degraded quality-of-service corresponding to that actually experienced or to actually uniformly provide the required quality-of-service between the sending and receiving terminals by improving the processing of the data by the network element or elements. A corresponding method, apparatus, system and computer programs are shown.
