  • Publication number: 20140083983
Abstract: The present invention is a method for separating a workpiece from a common substrate. It includes the steps of providing the workpiece, generating, within a beam source, a beam of laser pulses configured to modify a portion of the workpiece, determining a depth for creating a modified region based upon a characteristic of the workpiece and modifying a plurality of regions within the workpiece to form a plurality of modified regions. Modifying the plurality of regions includes directing the beam of laser pulses from an output of the beam source onto the workpiece, causing relative motion between the workpiece and the output of the beam source while directing the beam of laser pulses onto workpiece, and modifying a characteristic of the pulses of the beam upon generating a number of pulses which generally correspond to creating the modified regions to the determined depth.

  • Patent number: 8524884
Abstract: An outer layer material having an entanglement comprising an intermingling of cloaked hydrophilic guest and a hydrophobic polymer host, wherein molecules of the guest have been crosslinked with each other. Under certain circumstances, using complexes of the guest may be desirable or even necessary. Prior to intermingling with the guest, a host blend may be produced to include a physical blend of a hydrophobic polymer host and a maleated hydrophobic co-host (preferably, an anhydride functionalized hydrophobic polymer, whereby the polymer so functionalized, is the same as that selected for the host). The intermingling of the guest and host, or host-co-host blend, includes a physical tangling, whether it also comprises crosslinking by primary bonding (e.g., chemical/covalent bonding) there-between.

  • Patent number: 8484732
Abstract: Computers are protected against virtual machine exploits. A computer includes an exploit monitor for a virtual machine running in the computer. Loading of a virtual machine program in the virtual machine triggers the exploit monitor to modify the virtual machine program after the virtual machine program is loaded in the virtual machine but before the virtual machine program is executed in the virtual machine. The modification includes adding monitoring code, such as one or more checkpoints, in the virtual machine program. When the monitoring code is reached during execution of the virtual machine program in the virtual machine, the virtual machine program is evaluated to determine whether or not the virtual machine program is a virtual machine exploit.
