    Abstract: A method and system are provided for scheduling data transmission in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system. The MIMO system may comprise at least one MIMO transmitter and at least one MIMO receiver. Feedback from one or more receivers may be used by a transmitter to improve quality, capacity, and scheduling in MIMO communication systems. The method may include generating or receiving information pertaining to a MIMO channel metric and information pertaining to a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) in respect of a transmitted signal; and sending a next transmission to a receiver using a MIMO mode selected in accordance with the information pertaining to the MIMO channel metric, and an adaptive coding and modulation selected in accordance with the information pertaining to the CQI.

    Abstract: System and method embodiments are provided for enabling flexible and reliable UE-to-UE based relay. The embodiments include using fountain codes for combining signals at a suitable network layer higher than a media access control (MAC) sub-layer and using a MAC sub-layer hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmission scheme. When a relay UE in a UE group for joint reception receives, from a network access point, a data packet intended for a destination UE in the UE group and including fountain code at the higher network layer, the relay UE sends the data packet to the destination UE and returns a HARQ ACK message at the MAC sub-layer to the access point. The destination UE then receives and decodes the data packet. Subsequently, upon receiving the entire data, the destination UE sends an ACK message at the higher network layer to the access point.

    Abstract: A system and method of DFT-S-OFDM modulation is provided that uses a set of frequency domain patterns. For a given transmitter, for a set of DFT-S-OFDM symbols, the frequency domain pattern changes according to a time domain hopping pattern. Advantageously, the time domain hopping patterns are defined to allow only a certain amount of overlap, for example for only one DFT-S-OFDM symbol, between any two time domain hopping patterns. This functions to reduce the effect of a collision, when two transmitters use the same frequency pattern, they will do so only for part of the overall transmission. Optionally, frequency domain spectral spreading is used in the transmitter. This can further reduce the PAPR. In the receiver, successive interference cancellation may be employed to reduce the effect of colliding transmissions.

The method involves producing a single carrier offset quadrature amplitude modulation (OQAM) waveform signal from a set of K complex symbols. The method further involves pulse shaping 2K frequency domain samples of the OQAM waveform signal with J non-zero coefficients, where the J non-zero coefficients represent a frequency response of a conjugate symmetrical pulse shape, and K?J?2K?1. The approach has the advantage of avoiding self-interference, with the result that better BLER performance may be possible. The approach is applicable to any modulation order and also avoids bandwidth expansion. Flexibility is provided through a trade-off between PAPR vs. spectrum efficiency.

Retransmissions contain vertical parity check blocks which are determined from verticals from the set of horizontal code blocks. Once all the vertical parity check blocks have been transmitted, a new set may be determined after performing interleaving upon either the content of the horizontal code blocks, in the case of non-systematic horizontal code blocks, or over the content of encoder input bits in the place of systematic horizontal code blocks. The interleaving may be bitwise or bit subset-wise. The retransmissions do not contain any of the original bits. In the decoder, soft decisions are produced, and nothing needs to be discarded; decoding will typically improve with each retransmission.

There is also a back gate formed in a silicon substrate adjacent a buried oxide layer or the at least one top gate, where the back gate controls the electron or hole entanglement and exchange interaction between the two coupled quantum dot qubits. The monolithic integrated circuits described may be used for monolithically integrated semiconductor quantum processors for quantum information processing.
