  • Publication number: 20110320447
Abstract: In one aspect, a processing device of an information processing system is operative to perform high-dimensional stratified sampling of a database comprising a plurality of records arranged in overlapping sub-groups. For a given record, the processing device determines which of the sub-groups the given record is associated with, and for each of the sub-groups associated with the given record, checks if a sampling rate of the sub-group is less than a specified sampling rate. If the sampling rate of each of the sub-groups is less than the specified sampling rate, the processing device samples the given record, and otherwise does not sample the given record. The determine, check and sample operations are repeated for additional records, and samples resulting from the sample operations are processed to generate information characterizing the database.

  • Publication number: 20110258190
Abstract: A processing device of an information processing system is operative to obtain a plurality of records, documents, web pages or other data objects, and to construct a binary tree using a bipartition procedure in which subsets of the data objects are associated with respective nodes of the tree. Evaluation of a designated modularity for a given one of the nodes of the tree is used as a stopping criterion to prevent further partitioning of that node and to indicate designation of that node as a leaf node of the tree. The resulting leaf nodes of the tree provide a non-overlapping partitioning of the plurality of data objects. The processing device is further operative to perform a neighborhood search on the tree to identify pairs of the plurality of data objects that match the same entity, and to store an indication of the matching pairs of data objects.

  • Patent number: 7937677
Abstract: Full-chip scan data can be advantageously used during design planning to minimize top-level scan wires and scan feedthroughs. The scan cells can be reordered using a modified cost function to promote connecting all scan cells in one plan group before crossing to a scan cell in another plan group. The modified cost function can take into account penalty parameters. The penalty parameters can include at least one of: membership in a plan group or a top-level physical hierarchy, size of a plan group, FLOATING/ORDERED scan element in scan data, location of endpoints of an ORDERED list, location of endpoints of a macro, and membership in a plan group containing a STOP point. Scan data, at the block-level and at the top-level, can be automatically updated to reflect the plan groups and optimized scan chains.

  • Publication number: 20100306279
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for propagating functional dependencies with conditions. Propagation covers are computed using an SPC view of a dataset, wherein the SPC view comprises selection, projection and Cartesian product operations. Selection operations are processed to extract equivalence classes. Cartesian product operations are processed to obtain a renamed set of the plurality of conditional functional dependencies, that have attributes appearing in the SPC view. Domain constraints from the equivalence classes are applied to the renamed set to remove attributes not in the SPC view. Projection operations are processed using a reduction by resolution procedure to identify inferences that can be propagated to the SPC view from the conditional functional dependencies having attributes that do not appear in the SPC view. Domain constraints of the equivalence classes are converted to conditional functional dependencies; and a minimal cover of the SPC view is determined.

  • Patent number: 7822416
Abstract: Techniques are provided to allow global roaming between different devices in different networks, using different protocols. A system may contain one or more protocol dependent logic servers (PDLSs), in which each PDLS is associated with a particular network/network protocol. The networks may comprise one or more wired telecommunications networks, wireless communications networks, or Internet-based networks. When a first PDLS receives an incoming, protocol-dependent message comprising a first protocol from a first network intended for a user currently registered on another network, the first PDLS converts the protocol-dependent message into an incoming, protocol-independent message and forwards it to another network element, such as a core logic server (CLS). The CLS processes the incoming, protocol-independent message, generates an appropriate outgoing protocol-independent message and forwards this message to a second PDLS.

  • Publication number: 20100250596
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for discovering minimal conditional functional dependencies (CFDs). CFDs extend functional dependencies by supporting patterns of semantically related constants, and can be used as rules for cleaning relational data. A disclosed CFDMiner algorithm, based on techniques for mining closed itemsets, discovers constant minimal CFDs. A disclosed CTANE algorithm discovers general minimal CFDs based on the levelwise approach. A disclosed FastCFD algorithm discovers general minimal CFDs based on a depth-first search strategy, and an optimization technique via closed-itemset mining to reduce search space.

  • Publication number: 20100091765
Abstract: An optimized gateway selection process of the present invention is based on a universal mobility manager (UMM), a component for inter-technology location management. The UMM is capable of holding location information for diverse cellular networks, as well as for Internet telephony systems. For cellular networks, UMM acts as a traditional HLR; for an Internet telephony network, it acts as the entities that are responsible for user/terminal registration (registrar in SIP, gatekeeper in H.323) and address resolution (proxy server in SIP, gatekeeper in H.323). An optimal gateway selection is possible based on location related information provided by the UMM which had not previously been available. Utilizing the newly available information enables a gateway to be selected which may, for example, enable the circuit switched portion of a call to now be minimized.

  • Publication number: 20030157938
Abstract: Global Roaming, i.e., the combination of terminal and user mobility, requires the technology independent notion of a user who owns multiple devices. Any network infrastructure that supports global roaming needs to model and manage this user concept in a multi-technology subscriber database. This modeling not only requires the novel assignment of traditional subscriber attributes to the now separated entities of users, terminals, and addresses. For backward compatibility reasons, it also has to be compliant with the standard, single-technology subscriber models. Moreover, user configured inter-technology dependencies between service settings need to be taken into account to (1) enforce external integrity constraints, and (2) reduce space consumption of the multi-protocol subscriber base. The present invention a methodology for connecting to a subscriber having multiple devices accessible via a communications network and utilizing differing communications protocols.
