  • Patent number: 4831784
Abstract: An apparatus for polishing end faces of optical fibers so that they are each given a convex spherical surface. The optical fibers are mounted on a jig so that their end faces are pressed against a polishing film attached to a rotary disk. The polishing film is made of a flexible (or cushionable) soft material having a Shore hardness of 10 through 100, such as synthetic rubber. The jig performs an orbital motion without rotation on its own axis.

  • Patent number: 4811137
Abstract: A disk cartridge shutter opening and closing mechanism which is disclosed herein is designed to open and close a shutter of a disk cartridge having a variety of disks contained in a shuttered hard case and is of a construction having a pair of arms swingably mounted within a range of a width of the disk cartridge, the arm having a block which is pivotally mounted on its leading end and integrally formed with an engage head portion and an arm portion which are used for opening and closing of the shutter. The pushing-in of the disk cartridge causes the pair of arms to be swung toward each other, thereby opening and closing the shutter. A smaller pushing-in force enables the shutter to be smoothly opened and closed. Moreover, the whole mechanism is thin and compact.

  • Patent number: 4309458
Abstract: Composite powder coated with a noble metal is produced by adding a powder of a metal or alloy baser than the noble metal to a powder of a metallic sulfide, carbon, activated charcoal, metallic carbide, or metallic oxide, and then adding to the resulting mixture a solution containing the noble metal with stirring. The particles of the composite powder are coated with the noble metal that results from a cementation reaction.

  • Patent number: 4309457
Abstract: A multilayer-coated composite powder is produced by a first step of treating a core powder to be coated with first metallic ions and a metallic powder for reducing the first ions and thereby forming a single-layer coated powder, and a second step of treating the single-layer-coated powder with either only second metallic ions other than the first metallic ions or the second ions in the presence of a metallic powder for reducing the second ions. Where necessary, the second step is repeated the number of times required for forming a predetermined number of coating layers.

  • Patent number: 4220537
Abstract: A drum type disc filter device for dehydrating paper pulp slurry. The drum and the disc filters are axial drain chambers and sector type filter members. Pressurized air is fed into the drain chambers sequentially when each drain chamber and corresponding filter members are at a predetermined angle of rotation of the drum. Paper guide plates are secured between the disc filters to guide separated paper pulp cakes safely into a chute without causing interference of lumping of the paper pulp cakes.
