  • Publication number: 20020105787
Abstract: A casing for an electronic control unit is composed of an upper case having a bottom opening and a bottom plate closing the bottom opening. The upper case is so formed that plural upper cases are easily stacked up and picked up one by one by an automated vacuum sucker. The sidewalls of the upper case facing each other are slanted, and a fringe portion is formed at a bottom end of each slanted sidewall. A U-shaped portion or a protrusion is formed on the fringe portion to prevent the upper case from sticking to another upper case when plural upper cases are vertically stacked up.

  • Publication number: 20020084309
Abstract: Articles to be brazed are preheated to an increased temperature in a preheating process and the temperature of the articles to be brazed is measured. Conversion data obtained and stored for different combinations of articles to be brazed is referred to on the basis of the measured temperature and a time for which brazing filler metal supply nozzles are kept in a wait state is set on the basis of the conversion data to define the timing for supplying the brazing filler metal wires (S40). A heating burner moves forward and then a timer starts counting the time for which the nozzles are kept in the wait state (S42). When the nozzle wait timer has counted the set time and expired, the brazing filler metal supply nozzles move forward and supply the wires to braze the articles (S43 to 45). In this way, the articles to be brazed, heated by the heating burner, are at an increased temperature suitable for brazing at the time when the brazing filler metal wires are supplied.

  • Patent number: 6341191
Abstract: A variable attenuation type optical power attenuator permits easier adjustment of the amount of optical attenuation and it is able to securely maintained an adjusted or set amount of attenuation. The variable attenuation type optical power attenuator employs a fixed ferrule and a rotating ferrule that have their end surfaces polished, together with the central optical fibers thereof, to be formed into inclined end surfaces. An alignment sleeve supports the fixed and rotating ferrules with optical fibers so that the distal ends thereof are opposed and that the ferrules may be relatively rotated, thus making up an assembly composed of a pair of ferrules. The assembly of the paired ferrules is supported in a rotating housing by a fixed housing. The variable attenuation type optical power attenuator adjusts the distance between the optical fiber end of the fixed ferrule and that of the rotating ferrule by rotating the rotating housing to change the relative rotational angle in relation to the fixed housing.

  • Patent number: 6257971
Abstract: An apparatus for simultaneously or selectively grinding ends of a plurality of optical fibers held by optical fiber end devices such as connectors including ferrules. The apparatus has a holder plate having a plurality of types of supporting structures for fixing and supporting a plurality of types of optical fiber end devices with optical fibers connected thereto. Spring or weights are used for urging ends of the optical fibers on the optical fiber end devices supported by the supporting structures. A circular-path-based relative motion is caused to occur between the holder plate and the grinding plate. Each of the optical fiber end devices is a connector including a ferrule. In such a case, the plurality of types of optical fiber end devices may be connectors whose end surfaces are to be ground at different angles or may be the connectors of different connection types.

  • Patent number: 6165055
Abstract: A polishing holder arm includes a polishing holder mounting/dismounting device having a base section supported by a base plate through a horizontally rotational shaft to permit the device to rotate and move upward from an approximately horizontal position and the other end section engaged with the polishing holder H. The holder H includes a coupling section whose rotation is restricted by the polishing holder arm and which is detachably coupled with the polishing holder mounting/dismounting device at a center. A polishing force applying device A moves between a position where it applies a downward spring urging force to the polishing holder arm and a position where it permits the polishing holder arm to rotate and move upward. With this arrangement, the optical fiber end surface polishing device causes the polishing holder H to be easily mounded and dismounted on and from the polishing holder arm; can adjust a polishing force double and permits the polishing holder arm to jump upward and rotate at least 90.

  • Patent number: 6160929
Abstract: A 2.times.2 optical fiber switch has a structure that does not produce an alignment error between the position of the central axis of optical fiber assemblies with lenses and the symmetry center position of rectangular prisms, thereby obviating the need of the skill for assembling adjustment. The 2.times.2 optical fiber switch is provided with first, second, third, and fourth optical fiber assemblies with lenses that are disposed such that the optical axes thereof are parallel in the same reference plane. The optical fiber assemblies with lenses are supported by a lens holding member. A prism holding member is supported by the lens holding member such that it supports first and second prisms and moves between a coupling position and a retreated position in a direction perpendicular to the reference plane.

  • Patent number: 6144782
Abstract: An optical fiber switch for switching N.times.2N (N.gtoreq.1) circuits is capable of mechanically switching a plurality of pairs of optical fiber circuits at the same time. The optical fiber switch moves an N (N.gtoreq.1) number of movable optical fibers at the same time by a drive member which is guided by a slit of alignment members and reciprocated at right angles or in the X direction with respect to an optical axis. The optical axes of the movable optical fibers are accurately aligned with the optical axes of first or second fixed optical fibers by a mechanism which presses the N (N.gtoreq.1) number of the movable optical fibers against alignment V grooves at the same time by utilizing the flexure stress of an elastic pin provided on an actuator. Further, the elastic pin imparts a self-holding function to the actuator.

  • Patent number: 6113284
Abstract: An optical fiber light source assembly is constructed by assembling a light emitting device, a condenser lens, and a ferrule receptacle means for receiving an optical fiber ferrule in a housing. The ferrule receptacle means is adjusted on its optical axis in relation to the housing and is then fixed to the housing. The ferrule receptacle is guided in the housing along a pair of engaged reference circumferences therebetween, and is moved back and forth through a screw connection while being turned. After a reference front end position of an inserted ferrule is made coincident with the image point of the light source, the ferrule receptacle means is fixed in the housing using fixing means. An adjusting instrument is used to adjust the position of the ferrule receptacle means in relation to the housing.
