Patent number: 7422302Abstract: As a replacement cartridge is moved closer to a wireless communication section provided on the housing of a printer, information stored in a non-volatile memory of the replacement cartridge is acquired by the wireless communication section. A CPU of the printer compares the amount of ink remaining in the replacement cartridge, obtained from the acquired information, with the amount of an ink remaining in a cartridge on a carriage which retains an ink of the same color as the color of the ink in the replacement cartridge. In the case where the ink remaining amount in the replacement cartridge is larger, the CPU decides that the cartridge should be replaced and moves the carriage in such a way that the target cartridge for replacement is positioned directly under an opening portion in the housing. This makes the cartridge replacement task easier.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2003Date of Patent: September 9, 2008Assignee: Seiko Epson CorporationInventor: Mitsuo Tanaka

Patent number: 7024264Abstract: The present invention aims at providing a method for designing a glass-plate-aimed bending mold making use of a 3-dimensional CAD application for solid models, in a short time with simple operations, by utilizing a previously designed solid model. To this end, there is modified a ring frame of a solid model of a mold stored in an existing-solid-model storing part, such that the ring frame conforms to the shape of a new glass plate, by glass shape replacing means. By using modified parameter reflecting means, the modification of the modifiable parameters inherited from the existing solid-model is reflected to the modified solid model, to thereby optimize the modifiable parameters of a new solid model.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 2002Date of Patent: April 4, 2006Assignee: Nippon Sheet Glass Company, LimitedInventors: Yoshimitsu Matsushita, Chie Sugishita, Koichi Tsujiuchi, Mitsuo Tanaka

Publication number: 20050268661Abstract: A method for manufactuing a curved glass plate includes the steps of mounting a single glass plate blank heated to a deformable temperature in a heating furnace on a lower mold configured for supporting a lower face peripheral edge of the glass plate blank outside the heating furnace, pressing a curvature forming upper mold which bulges downwardly against an upper face of the glass plate to form a curvature in the glass plate and coolign the curved glass plate as being mounted on the lower mold by natural cooling or near-natural cooling, thereby to obtain the curved glass plate as a final product. During the step of cooling the glass plate on the lower mold, the lower mold is heated whereas an inner portion of the lower face of the glass plate adjacent the portion of the glass plate placed in contact with the lower mold is forcibly cooled.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 1, 2005Publication date: December 8, 2005Inventors: Hideo Yoshizawa, Kazuhisa Ono, Mitsuo Tanaka

Patent number: 6007355Abstract: A rotary connector configured so as to enable extension or contraction of a cable transmitting electrical signals etc. by connecting a spirally wound flat cable between two cable parts and making the spirally wound flat cable wind or unwind using a rotary body and a fixed body, more particularly a rotary connector able to protect the flat cable from fusing when an overcurrent flows. The plus side connection portion of connection portions between conductors of a flat cable and an outer conductor (cable) electrically connects the conductors of the flat cable and the outer conductor through members having a fuse function. When a short-circuit occurs in the circuit including the flat cable and the outer conductor, the member having a fuse function fuses first so as to prevent the flat cable from heating and fusing.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1997Date of Patent: December 28, 1999Assignee: The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masahiro Shibata, Mitsuo Tanaka, Ryusaku Koike

Patent number: 5866463Abstract: In a semiconductor apparatus having a PNP bipolar transistor and high voltage resistance, there is formed an oxide insulating layer in the surface region of a P-type semiconductor substrate. In the above semiconductor substrate is formed a P-type collector layer so that at least a part of the P-type collector layer is in contact with said oxide insulating layer. In the surface region of said P-type collector layer is formed a P-type collector contact layer. An N-type base layer is formed in that region on the surface side of said P-type collector layer in which said P-type collector contact layer does not exist. A P-type emitter layer is formed on the surface side of said N-type base layer.Type: GrantFiled: May 21, 1997Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd.Inventors: Takehiro Hirai, Mitsuo Tanaka, Atsushi Hori, Hiroshi Shimomura, Yoshihiko Horikawa

Patent number: 5838048Abstract: A silicon oxide film and a polysilicon film are formed on a silicon substrate and are selectively etched to form a contact hole in a region where an emitter is to be formed. A polysilicon film is laid on the substrate and two polysilicon films are patterned to form an emitter electrode and a gate electrode made of the two polysilicon films which are doped with arsenic. The arsenic is diffused from the polysilicon films of the emitter electrode into the silicon substrate to form an N.sup.+ emitter layer which has a high concentration and is shallow. Consequently, the contamination of a gate insulator film can be prevented from occurring and a bipolar transistor having high performance, for example, a high current amplification factor or the like can be formed.Type: GrantFiled: August 20, 1997Date of Patent: November 17, 1998Assignee: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takehiro Hirai, Masahiro Nakatani, Mitsuo Tanaka, Akihiro Kanda
