  • Publication number: 20030222528
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a winding for an electric rotating machine includes steps of altering, passing, shaping, and connecting. In the altering step, connecting portions of conductor segments, a part of which is exposed, are altered in shape by a pressing die to provide good contact between the segments when they are connected. The altered segments are passing through slots of a stator core in the passing step. Ends of protruded portions of the segments are shaped so that they make an angle with respect to the radial section of the stator core in the shaping step. Adjacent segments are connected together at ends of the connecting portion in the connecting step.

  • Publication number: 20030163912
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a winding of a rotary electric machine includes steps of pressing a portion of a conductor segment in a predetermined direction to reduce its dimension in the direction, inserting the conductor segment into a slot of a stator core, bending the conductor segments and joining ends of the conductor segments. In the pressing step, the conductor segment is pressed with a punch in a condition that it is held in a die that has curved inside corner portions to restrict deformation of corners of the pressed portion.

  • Publication number: 20030159270
Abstract: A stator of a rotary electric machine such as an alternator for use in an automobile vehicle is composed of a cylindrical stator core and a stator winding held in the stator core. The stator winding is formed by electrically connecting plural U-shaped conductor segments inserted into slots of the stator core. Pairs of segment ends to be electrically connected are aligned along two or more coaxial circumferences and correctly positioned by individually restricting each pair of segment ends. Correctly positioned plural pairs are continuously welded one by one by rotating the stator core.

  • Publication number: 20030135980
Abstract: To secure insulation between electrical conductors at a coil end, a first electrical conductor at one coil end is arranged so as to intersect a radially adjacent second electrical conductor at one point or more. The electrical conductor is formed with radial indentations in side faces that are opposite side faces in opposing electrical conductors at any of the intersecting portions, the indentations having depths that increase toward the near end of the electrical conductors. Sufficient clearances are thereby secured between electrical conductors in their intersecting portions near their ends where the insulating films are susceptible to damage because of welding heat. Electrical insulation is thus ensured, and the cooling efficiency at the coil end is improved.

  • Patent number: 4560115
Abstract: An emergency lock safety belt retractor is designed to facilitate release from an inadvertent lock-up which may occur after full-speed retraction of the seat belt. This undesired lock-up is due to a latch mechanism which locks a belt spool in response to either excessively abrupt onset of extraction, such as may occur in front-end automotive accidents, or excessively abrupt cessation of retraction. This latch mechanism has two separate latches: a simple latch pawl biased away from its latched position and a more complicated lock wheel. The latch pawl is mounted on a rotary drum and in its latched position engages teeth on a stationary drum. The lock wheel is coupled for rotation with the belt spool but is free to move axially through three regimes. The lock wheel is biased toward a first axial regime in which it couples the rotary drum to the belt spool.
