  • Publication number: 20160373174
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for applying successive multi-rank beamforming strategies (e.g., successive preceding strategies) for the design of precoders over a set of parallel channels. Successive beamformina is applied. to a narrow band channel model and is also applied for finer ehantisation of a single beamforminq vector (e.g., recursive beamforming). A first embodiment provides the optimal approach with high complexity. An alternative embodiment provides successive beamforming for near optimal precodina selection with medium complexity. A low complexity method for precoder selection is also provided wherein a channel representative matrix for the set of parallel channels is determined and successive beamforming on the calculated channel representative is applied.

Abstract: Example systems and methods to optimize and integrate of thermal and structural analyses are described herein. An example method includes performing a thermal analysis of a component using a first mesh representing the component to produce a thermal distribution across the component. The first mesh has first nodes based on a first element size. The example method includes using a first mapping file to assign temperature values to second nodes of a second mesh representing the component based on the thermal distribution. The second nodes are based on a second element size different than the first element size. The example method also includes performing a structural analysis of the component using the second mesh and the assigned temperature values to produce gauge sizes for the component and using a second mapping file to assign gauge values to the first nodes of the first mesh based on the gauge sizes.

  • Patent number: 9521560
Abstract: Disclosed are systems, methods and structures that provide improved spatial reuse of spectral resources in small-cell wireless networks including WiMAX, LTE, LTE-Advanced, etc. Advantageously, the systems and method disclosed while leveraging beamforming for spatial reuse across small cells also decouple it from per-frame scheduling at a small cell base station thereby allowing for beam selections to be computed with a granularity measured in seconds. In realizing these advantages, systems, methods and structures disclosed integrate beam selection with client association.

  • Publication number: 20160314760
Abstract: A display may have an array of display pixels. Digital display data may be received by a digital-to-analog converter that converts the digital display data to analog display data. The magnitudes of the analog display data signals can be controlled by a regulated voltage received by the digital-to-analog converter. A brightness controller may have multiple peak luminance control (PLC) profiles. In accordance with an embodiment, a brightness setting may be processed by a lookup table to identify a pair of PLC profiles that is interpolated in order to obtain the desired regulated voltage. In accordance with another embodiment, a single PLC profile may be used that is a function of a combined parameter that takes into account both average frame luminance and the brightness setting. In accordance with yet another embodiment, a lookup table that specifies brightness setting offset values may be used to directly modulate the brightness setting.

  • Patent number: 9469296
Abstract: A method and arrangement are described for manoeuvre generation for automated driving on a one-way road of a vehicle (e) hosting the arrangement, the host vehicle (e) further including one or more advanced driver assistance systems. A collision free reference trajectory for longitudinal and lateral movement of the host vehicle (e) is determined repeatedly, with a fix time interval, for allowing the host vehicle (e) to retain a desired velocity and maintain the host vehicle (e) in a preferred lane utilizing model predictive control and quadratic program formulation. A control scheme where the structured environment of the one-way road is exploited in order to linearly formulate collision avoidance constraints is utilized. Manoeuvre generation is performed through solving the quadratic program. The one or more advanced driver assistance systems are controlled to perform the generated manoeuvre.

  • Publication number: 20160284275
Abstract: An electronic device that includes a display is provided. The display may have a brightness that is controlled using a series of cascaded digital-to-analog converter circuits. The display may be calibrated at a series of predetermined display brightness settings. For display brightness settings that fall between two consecutive display brightness settings in the series of predetermined display brightness settings, voltage interpolation operations may be performed to obtain the corresponding display brightness settings. Performing voltage interpolations instead of digital brightness setting interpolation helps minimize luminance jumps and unexpected color shifts when adjusting the brightness of the display.
