  • Publication number: 20100157924
Abstract: Methods and systems for conveying or transmitting to any given user in an OFDMA-MU-MIMO system scheduling information of other co-scheduled users to permit the user to perform error-correction on received data and/or interference reduction on its received signals. The scheduling information can include resource block assignment, modulation constellations employed, coding rates employed, power levels utilized and precoder matrix indices used. Further, the scheduling information can be conveyed in part through dedicated reference symbol layers or pilot streams. Moreover, a base station may transmit a preliminary estimate of the total number of users the base station expects to schedule, or an upper-bound on the total number of users, to the MU-MIMO users to permit the MU-MIMO users to determine preferred precoder matrix indices and indications of channel quality indices.

  • Patent number: 7673857
Abstract: At least one section of structured packing where the length of the section is about 1 m to about 6 m; and where the specific surface area of the structured packing of the section is greater than 500 m2/m3, is used in a vapour/liquid contact column operating in locations where environmental conditions adversely affect steady state operation of the column to reduce maldistribution of liquid in the column under motion. The structured packing section has particular application offshore on a buoyant platform where tilt of the column out of vertical alignment due to the rolling motion of the platform can significantly affect the efficiency of the column.

  • Publication number: 20090298757
Abstract: Compounds of the invention are novel peptide analogues of oxyntomodulin (oxm) in which one or more amino acids of the oxm sequence have been changed. Changing amino acids 15-24 of oxm to either amino acids 968-977 of the ?-latrotoxin peptide (and variations thereof) or amino acids 15-24 of exendin-4 (and variations thereof), or combinations of sequences from these sources, and/or changing amino acids 27-33 of oxm to amino acids 27-33 of exendin-4, and/or the addition of amino acids to the C-terminus of the peptide, results in a series of analogues of oxm that demonstrate the oxm like activity of reducing food intake, and with certain embodiments a greater ability to decrease food intake.

  • Publication number: 20090280806
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining whether to transmit from a first unit to a second unit, where the transmission is one of a first type and a second type. In the method, a signal from the second unit is received at the first unit, and the strength of the signal as received at the first unit is measured. A determination is made of whether the transmission is of the first type or the second type, and a first threshold is selected if the transmission is of the first type, or else a second threshold is selected if the transmission is of the second type. The measured signal strength is then compared to the selected threshold, and the transmission proceeds only if the measured signal strength exceeds the selected threshold.
