  • Patent number: 9172489
Abstract: The present invention provides a system, apparatus and method for discovery of network elements, which are adjacent within the network data plane but may or may not be adjacent in the network control plane. In one embodiment of the present invention, digital network elements, with a plurality thereof having a lambda switching capability (hereinafter “LSC”) interface, is provided. A digital network element with an LSC interface originates and sends a local advertisement to its immediate control neighbor. Using this LSC originated advertisements; a neighboring network element may be discovered that is adjacent on the network data plane.

  • Patent number: 9172658
Abstract: Call setup methods in a multi-domain network and a multi-domain network use dynamic link tagging and/or overbooking of External Network-Network Interface (ENNI) links. Thus, improved call setup systems and methods include two approaches to improve upon the responsiveness of the network for connection setups including bandwidth reservation in optical networks using “dynamic link tags” and link overbooking in optical networks based on a greedy approach. The bandwidth reservation and the link overbooking can be utilized together or separately to improve call setup. Advantageously, the improved call setup systems and methods can provide a generic bandwidth reservation mechanism, such as in Automatically Switched Optical Network (ASON) networks, to overcome the limitation of ENNI in concurrently updating the abstract link bandwidth and thereby improving the responsiveness of the network.

  • Publication number: 20150305107
Abstract: A controller may predict an estimated occurrence of a high-resistance state of a dimmer, wherein the high-resistance state occurs when the dimmer begins phase-cutting an alternating current voltage signal. The controller may also be configured to operate in a trailing-edge exposure mode for a period of time wherein the period of time includes a time of the estimated occurrence of the high-resistance state in order to allow the controller to detect the occurrence of the high-resistance state, wherein energy is transferred from an input to a dissipative element during the trailing-edge exposure mode. The controller may further be configured to minimize a time between a beginning of the period of time and the estimated occurrence of the high-resistance state by modifying the period of time based on an estimated charging time of a capacitor of the dimmer.

  • Publication number: 20150301883
Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods for propagating port state to intermediary devices of a cluster in a static link aggregation environment. The methods and systems include a cluster comprising a plurality of intermediary devices in communication with a network device via a static link aggregation comprising aggregated ports from different intermediary devices of the cluster. A first device of the static link aggregation is configured to detect that a health of the first device is below a predetermined threshold and, responsive to the detection, identify one or more ports in the aggregated ports as down. A second device of the link aggregation is configured to, responsive to the identification, remove the ports from a distribution list for the static link aggregation. Upon detection that a health of a device is above a predetermined threshold, the first device may identify the ports as up.

  • Patent number: 9167662
Abstract: In at least one embodiment, a system and method provide current compensation in a lighting system by controlling a lamp current to prevent a current through a triac-based dimmer from undershooting a holding current value. In at least one embodiment, at least one of the lamps includes a controller that controls circuitry in the lamp to draw more lamp current for a period of time than needed to illuminate a brightness of the lamp at a level corresponding to particular phase-cut angle of the supply voltage. By drawing more current than needed, the controller increases the dimmer current during the period of time to prevent the dimmer current from falling below the holding current value. In at least one embodiment, the period of time corresponds to a compensating pulse of the lamp current at a time when the dimmer current would otherwise fall below the holding current value.

  • Patent number: 9152430
Abstract: A microcontroller includes a clock generator having an internal reference clock, a system mode controller establishing an operating mode, a flash memory having an internal clock and a non-volatile option register, and a boot mode selection logic circuit coupled to the system mode controller and the flash memory. The logic circuit outputs a boot mode selection signal instructing the microcontroller to boot in a very low power run (VLPR) mode or a RUN mode. The system mode controller enters the VLPR or RUN mode in response. The flash memory bypasses and disables its internal clock prior to calibration of the flash memory in the VLPR mode and prior to initialization of the flash memory in the RUN mode. The flash memory subsequently uses an external clock signal based on the output of the internal reference clock.

  • Patent number: 9141603
Abstract: Statements of a computer program expressed using a first source natural language are made meaningful to a programmer familiar with a second target natural language. The first source natural language of the computer program is determined from the programmer, or through analysis, and the second target natural language desired by the programmer is selected. Textual constructs may be parsed, with reference to stored coding conventions to determine meaningful lexical tokens. Such tokens are translated with a translation engine, and displayed to the programmer, desirably using a graphical user interface feature of an integrated development, environment (IDE) for computer programming in a particular programming language.

  • Publication number: 20150264105
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for automatically constructing a human-friendly and meaningful URL based on the content, context, or both, of the resource. An alternate URL can be constructed by analyzing and extracting keywords or other portions of content from a webpage automatically. The content of the webpage or other resource is obtained and analyzed using keyword extraction filters to derive one or more keywords that uniquely represent the content of the resource. An alternate URL is constructed based on the keywords. The keywords can be extracted from any portion of the content or from dictionary definitions or similar meanings of the content. The alternate URL is constructed such that it is unique among existing URLs. The alternate URL meaningfully represents the content, permitting the user to use or share the alternate URL on social media and elsewhere.
