  • Patent number: 9017882
Abstract: An electrode/electrolyte assembly that has a well-integrated interface between an electrode and a solid polymer electrolyte film, which provides continuous, ionically-conducting and electronically insulating paths between the films is provided. A slurry is made containing active electrolyte material, a liquefied, ionically-conductive first polymer electrolyte with dissolved lithium salt, and conductive additive. The binder may have been liquefied by dissolving in a volatile solvent or by melting. The slurry is cast or extruded as a thin film and dried or cooled to form an electrode layer that has some inherent porosity. A liquefied second polymer electrolyte that includes a salt is cast over the electrode film. Some of the liquefied second polymer electrolyte fills at least some of the pores in the electrode film and the rest forms an electrolyte layer on top of the electrode film.

  • Publication number: 20150110635
Abstract: An adjustable blade root spring device for turbine blade fixation in turbomachinery. The device is designed to be placed in a space in a rotor disk cavity adjacent to a tip of a blade root fir tree, where the device applies a radial outward force on the turbine blade to fix the blade position in the rotor disk. The device includes an accordion-shaped spring which is compressed by a bolt and a coil spring. When the accordion spring is compressed in length, it increases in height and makes contact with the rotor disk and the turbine blade. The force of the accordion spring on the turbine blade can be adjusted via the bolt, and the coil spring provides an increased compliance range. The device can be inserted into the space without scraping against the blade root or the rotor disk, and expanded once it is in position.

  • Patent number: 9011952
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method and apparatus for separation of seeds from fruit pulp/skin/twigs, in general, coming out from juice producing industry as a waste and in particular from apple pomace. The method involves addition of apple pomace and water in a particular ratio to a vessel (1), mixing with an agitator (6, 8) at optimum rpm for sufficient period, allowed to stand followed by secondary agitation. Based on difference in bulk density, seeds were separated from pomace. The seedless pomace withdrawn from horizontal (13) or inclined (14) outlets and seeds collected in seed collection chamber were removed through bottom valve (11). The seed trap (15) provided at inclined outlet (14) helps in their retention in the vessel (1). The seedless pomace is recovered by filtration from water. This spent water can be recycled for few times and then purged. Easy to handle separation device is energy efficient, compactly designed and can be used to separate the seeds efficiently up to 97%.

  • Patent number: 9011369
Abstract: A catheter for use in continuous flow peritoneal dialysis comprising an inflow tube and an outflow tube, wherein both are connected on one end to a dialysis machine. The inflow tube is divided into a plurality of smaller inflow auxiliary tubes, and the outflow tube is divided into a plurality of smaller outflow auxiliary tubes. The auxiliary tubes each contain a plurality of apertures for the rapid and efficient movement of dialysis solution in and out of the peritoneal cavity. The auxiliary tubes are covered by a sheath prior to implantation, which is then removed, thereby deploying, preferably into an open-basket shape, the auxiliary tubes within the peritoneal cavity which separate to allow for the continuous flow of dialysis solution. This reduces the time required to complete the procedure and increases its efficiency by reaching a larger surface area of the peritoneal cavity, all without kinking or blocking.

  • Publication number: 20150100945
Abstract: A computer resumes a software build process following a build process fail. Upon a failure of a build process executing a build plan, the computer saves the state of the build process. After the computer receives an indication from a versions control system that a source code module has been checked-in, the computer determines the modules in the build plan that are dependent on the checked-in source code file. The computer creates an interim build plan based, at least in part, on the determined modules in the build plan that are dependent on the checked-in source code module and the saved state of the build process. The computer then automatically executes the interim build plan.

  • Patent number: 8999008
Abstract: When electrode films are prepared for lithium electrochemical cells, problems are often encountered in laminating the films with an appropriate intervening electrolyte layer. This presents a significant challenge because proper alignment of the three layers and complete lamination at the interfaces are crucial to good cell performance. Often lamination is imperfect with gaps and defects at the interfaces. The disclosure herein describes a method of casting or extruding a polymer electrolyte directly onto an electrode film to create an electrode assembly with a continuous, defect-free interface. In some arrangements, there is some slight intermixing of the layers at the interface. A complete cell can be formed by laminating two such electrode assemblies to opposite sides of an additional electrolyte or to one another.

  • Patent number: 8990562
Abstract: An invention is described for securely deploying a provable identity for virtual machines (VMs) in a dynamic environment. In an embodiment, a fabric controller instructs a VM host to create a VM and sends that VM a secret. The fabric controller sends that same secret (or a second secret, such as the private key of a public/private key pair) to the security token service along with an instruction to make an account for the VM. The VM presents proof that it possesses the secret to the security token service and in return receives a full token. When a client connects to the deployment, it receives the public key from the security token service, which it trusts, and the full token from the VM. It validates the full token with the public key to determine that the VM has the identity that it purports to have.

Abstract: A hybrid model to determine state-of-charge for lithium batteries includes both a physical model and an empirical or data-driven model. The physical model is an electrochemical model, based on the battery materials properties and structure and describes dynamic electrochemical reactions. The empirical model uses coulomb counting and a relaxation filter, plus a Kalman filter for adaptive compensation of the system parameters. In some SOC regimes, one model is strongly favored over the other. In some SOC regions, a weighted combination of the two models is used.
