Abstract: Methods, apparatus, processors and computer readable medium for inter-radio access technology (RAT) handover are provided that incorporate a soft-decision making process. By implementing configurable functions, soft-decision making allows for handover measurement limits to fall within a prescribed acceptable range and for the totality of the handover measurements to be used in making a final decision on inter-RAT handover. Thus, the currently described aspects provide for more flexible handover decision-making and better utilization of network radio resources. Further, in some instances, the currently described aspects may provide for the weighting of handover measurements, thereby allowing network administrators to place more or less emphasis on a selected handover measurement and, thus, better manage the handover process.

Abstract: A method and system for placing an order to purchase an item via the Internet. The order is placed by a purchaser at a client system and received by a server system. The server system receives purchaser information including identification of the purchaser, payment information, and shipment information from the client system. The server system then assigns a client identifier to the client system and associates the assigned client identifier with the received purchaser information. The server system sends to the client system the assigned client identifier and an HTML document identifying the item and including an order button. The client system receives and stores the assigned client identifier and receives and displays the HTML document. In response to the selection of the order button, the client system sends to the server system a request to purchase the identified item.

Abstract: A processing system wherein a bitmap array is first used to obtain an index. The index is used to obtain a value from an array. A predefined default value is used to improve compression and speed in cases where a single default value is often encountered. In this embodiment the size of each entry in the bitmap array is one bit. In another approach, a bitmap array having two bit entries is provided. The use of two bits allows four different entry values. Two values are used to indicate two different default values. A third value is used for a “repeat” indicator to when the last-used next-state value should be re-used. The fourth value is used to indicate indexing into a pointer table, similarly to the embodiment using single-bit entries in the bitmap array.

Abstract: A programmable logic device (PLD) with logic blocks and an embedded array block includes an x-bit (xB)/y-bit (yB) coder programmed into the embedded array block instead of into the logic blocks. An xB/yB coder programmed into an embedded array block of a PLD instead of into logic blocks utilizes less space in a PLD than an xB/yB encoder programmed into the logic blocks. Additionally, the xB/yB coder can operate without row or column crossing for efficient timing in high-speed applications. In an embodiment, the xB/yB coder is an 8B/10B coder. In a further embodiment, the 8B/10B coder comprises a 5B/6B encoder and a 3B/4B encoder.

A set of 2d-1 unique branch metrics is computed, using the unique code word polynomials, where d is the number of unique code word polynomials. The computed set of 2d-1 unique branch metrics is stored in a memory. Path metrics are then calculated, based on the stored set of 2d-1 unique branch metrics. A decoded data symbol sequence is generated based on the computed path metrics.

Abstract: A method and a web-based system is provided that enables a customer service center of a company to provide its customers with a choice of different modes for establishing contact with customer service representatives. The different modes of contact are displayed on a single web page. The modes of contact include, but are not limited to call, chat, email and Internet talk. Further, the system provides information regarding the estimated wait time and the less busy time for the modes of contact. In addition, the system and method provide means for conducting a search in a knowledge database for automated responses to queries from customers. The system and method enables the customer to provide feedback for each interaction with the customer service center through the web page. Further, the system and method enable the storage of all interaction between each customer and the customer service center.

Abstract: Cell reselection comprises monitoring a first indicator indicative of a signaling level of the serving cell, and monitoring second indicators, each indicative of a signaling level of one of plural potential target cells. A timer associated with a potential target cell is initiated when the respective second indicator indicates that the signaling level of the potential target cell is better than the signaling level of the serving cell. Each timer has an associated expiry, and, if at least one timer has been initiated by the expiry of another initiated timer, then, after delaying for an additional period after at least the first timer has expired, a target cell is selected from the potential target cells. The target cell is selected that has a second indicator which indicates that the signaling level of the respective target cell is better than the signaling level of the serving cell.

Abstract: In a method of generating a virtual map to a plurality of data files necessary for installing software on a computer that is coupled to a network, a primary directory that includes a plurality of links is generated. Each link points to a subdirectory that lists at least one file that is necessary for installing the software. Any subdirectories pointed to by any of the of links that contain redundant files are detected and any links pointing to redundant files are removed from the primary directory. All conflicts between files pointed to by any links of the plurality of links are detected and listed in a conflict report.

Example embodiments provide a Social Discovery System (“SDS”), which enables users to contribute, share, manipulate, and otherwise engage in the creation and management of social knowledge and information. In one example embodiment, the SDS comprises a dot creation API, a dot system component, a dot user component, a permissions engine, a dot retrieval API, and a display engine. Abstract: A computer system for conducting electronic commerce. The system provides multiple electronic shopping carts for each user. Each electronic shopping cart has an indication of items currently within the electronic shopping cart and billing and shipment information. The system generates a display that identifies each of the electronic shopping carts and sends the generated display to a user computer system. The system then receives a selection of one of the identified electronic shopping carts from the user computer system and receives a selection of an item from the user computer system. In response to receiving the selection of the item, the system adds the item to the selected electronic shopping cart. The system then receives an indication to checkout the items in the selected electronic shopping cart from the user computer system.
