  • Publication number: 20090006595
Abstract: A system maintains a dormant state in the host, in which no beacons (or “bubbles”) are transmitted from the host when no application or service (collectively, “processes”) of the host is accepting unsolicited traffic via the edge traversal service. When at least one application or service begins to accept unsolicited traffic via the edge traversal service, the host enters a qualified state and begins transmitting the beacons. As each additional application or service begins to accept such traffic, the number of accepting applications and services is maintained. As applications and services terminate acceptance of such traffic, the number of accepting applications and services is decremented. When the last application or service terminates acceptance of unsolicited traffic via the edge traversal service, the host re-enters the dormant state and ceases transmission of its beacons.

  • Publication number: 20090003373
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer usable program product for receiving power over Ethernet in a redundant transceiver are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A determination is made in a redundant transceiver if electrical power is available over Ethernet. If power over Ethernet is available, power is received over Ethernet in the redundant transceiver, otherwise the redundant transceiver receives power from an attached power supply. For receiving power over Ethernet, the redundant transceiver remains in communication with the source of power over Ethernet using a wired section of the Ethernet, and the redundant transceiver receives electrical power to operate using the wired section of the Ethernet. The redundant transceiver receives power over Ethernet using a wire that is simultaneously carrying a data signal.

  • Patent number: 7469408
Abstract: Architecture that facilitates the creation of a customized document with embedded or linked code that can be run on a client or a server without invoking the host application. A programming model makes it transparent to the code whether it is running on the client or the server. The programming model automatically “scales” to provide more features while running the document on the client and fewer features when running on the server. A transparent data island is automatically generated for the customized document that is embedded in the document and can be edited while requiring only a subset of all components of the host application to be running. A data binding mechanism is provided wherein changes that are made to the transparent data island while the host is not running can be moved back into the host document content when the document is reopened by the full host application.

  • Patent number: 7469371
Abstract: Methods of testing a user design implemented in a programmable integrated circuit (IC). The programmable IC is programmed with a first test design that includes the user design and a first test circuit, and a first test pattern is run. The programmable IC is then programmed with a second test design that includes the user design and a second test circuit, and a second test pattern is run. If one of the test patterns fails and the other passes, the programmable IC passes the test sequence. Because one of the test patterns passed, the error in the other test pattern must have occurred in the test circuit, which is not necessary for the functioning of the user design in the programmable IC. Thus, the success of one test pattern shows that the flawed resource is not included in the portion of the programmable IC utilized for implementing the user design.

  • Publication number: 20080307400
Abstract: Statements of a computer program expressed using a first source natural language are made meaningful to a programmer familiar with a second target natural language. The first source natural language of the computer program is determined from the programmer, or through analysis, and the second target natural language desired by the programmer is selected. Textual constructs may be parsed, with reference to stored coding conventions to determine meaningful lexical tokens. Such tokens are translated with a translation engine, and displayed to the programmer, desirably using a graphical user interface feature of an integrated development environment (IDE) for computer programming in a particular programming language.

  • Publication number: 20080294659
Abstract: An XML join between XML documents can be performed by comparing XML elements between the XML documents, obtaining join-selection elements from a first XML document, obtaining join-required elements from one or more other XML documents, and performing the XML join using the elements in the first XML document and the join-required elements. The XML documents can be at different locations connected via a network. Where two XML documents are at different locations, the join-selection elements can be transmitted from a first location (of a first XML document) to a second location (of a second XML document). The join-required elements can be obtained at the second location and transmitted back to the first location. The XML join can then be performed at the first location.

  • Publication number: 20080287134
Abstract: In a Universal Mobile Telecommunications (UMTS) system, a mobile device reads scheduling information for uplink interference (SIB7) from a Master Information Block, broadcasted on the Broadcast Channel (BCCH). The UE wakes up from the sleep during its periodic paging occasions and reads the paging indicator channel (PICH). If the UE needs to read the PCH, then the UE computes the timing of the next broadcast of SIB7 using the scheduling information broadcast in the MIB on BCCH. Knowing the timing of the next SIB7, the UE can determine if there is an overlap. If overlap is detected, the mobile device demodulates both the paging channel carried by the Secondary Common Control Physical Channel (S-CCPCH) and the broadcast channel carried by the Primary CCPCH, avoiding a mobile-terminated (MT) call setup delay by waiting for the next SIB7 broadcast, which depending upon a SIB7 repetition ranges from 360 msec to 2.56 seconds.

  • Publication number: 20080278622
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for processing signals in a television system using a subset of receive operations for detecting digital and analog television signals are provided. The system and method may be deployed in, for example, cable TV set-top boxes, cable TV modems, and television receivers, which may be coupled to a cable TV or over-the-air terrestrial network. Performing only a subset of receiver operations may allow detection of the type of signal; for example digital QAM, digital VSB, or analog; present in a television channel. In this regard, it is not necessary to generate and validate a bit stream in order to detect if a signal is present and/or the type of signal present.

  • Publication number: 20080276139
Abstract: Self-synchronizing techniques for checking the accuracy of a pseudorandom bit sequence (PRBS) are provided. The PRBS being checked may be generated by a device (e.g., a device under test) in response to a PRBS received by the device (e.g., from a PRBS generator). In an aspect of the invention, a PRBS checking technique includes the following steps/operations. For a given clock cycle, the presence of an error bit in the PRBS generated by the device is detected. The error bit represents a mismatch between the PRBS input to the device and the PRBS output from the device. Then, propagation of the error bit is prohibited for subsequent clock cycles. The prohibition step/operation may serve to avoid multiple errors being counted for a single error occurrence and/or masking errors in the PRBS output by the device.

  • Publication number: 20080244243
Abstract: A debugger alters the execution flow of a child computer program of the debugger at runtime by inserting jump statements determined by the insertion of breakpoint instructions. Breakpoints are used to force the child computer program to throw exceptions at specified locations. One or more instructions of the computer program are replaced by jump instructions. The jump destination addresses associated with the break instructions can be specified by input from a user. The debugger changes the instruction pointer of the child program to achieve the desired change in execution flow. No instructions are lost in the child program.

  • Publication number: 20080233955
Abstract: Techniques for performing searches by a user equipment (UE) are described. The UE may camp on a serving cell for a first radio access technology (RAT) (e.g., GSM) and may periodically perform searches for a second RAT (e.g., WCDMA). In an aspect, the UE may vary the rate of searches for the second RAT based on received signal levels for the first and second RATs. The UE may determine a difference between the received signal levels for the two RATs, compare the difference against at least one threshold, and select a search rate associated with a range within which the difference falls as the rate of searches for the second RAT. In another aspect, the UE may control certain aspects of searches (e.g., determine whether or not to perform searches or the rate of searches) for the second RAT by considering the frequency bands for the two RATs.
