    Abstract: Wireless communication between two electronic devices may be used to determine a distance between the two devices, even in the presence of an otherwise-disruptive attacker. A wireless receiver system of one device may receive a true wireless ranging signal from a first transmitting device and a false wireless ranging signal from an attacker. The wireless receiver system may correlate the wireless signals with a known preamble sequence and perform channel estimation using the result, obtaining a channel impulse response for the wireless signals. The wireless receiver system may filter the channel impulse response for the plurality of wireless signals by removing at least part of the channel impulse response due to the false wireless ranging signal while not removing at least part of the channel impulse response due to the true wireless ranging signal. The receiver system may perform a wireless ranging operation using the filtered channel impulse response.

    Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for managing a high performance, fault-tolerant, strongly consistent, distributed key-value store system. The key-value store may store information, such as metadata for a distributed file system. Fault-tolerance means that the distributed key-value store continues to provide access to values in the key-value store in spite of a certain number of node failures. To provide this capability, the key-value store may store copies of (key, value) pair on N+1 nodes in order to provide fault tolerance for the failure of up to N nodes. In addition, metadata describing which nodes store a given value is stored on 2N+1 nodes and the distributed key-value store is sized such that there are 3N+1 nodes in a cluster. Doing so allows the key, value store to tolerate a failure of N nodes, while still maintaining a consistent and available key-value store.

The method and system monitors one or more parameters that the electronic device is subjected to in daily use using a plurality of sensors. Further, the method and system tracks an activity level of a user on the electronic device screen protector using a plurality of electronic enumerators and counters. The method and system then quantifies the activity level and the one or more parameters of the electronic device screen protector into a measure of efficacy of the embedded anti-microbial additives on the electronic device screen protector and determines if the measure of efficacy exceeds a predetermined threshold. Upon determining the measure of efficacy exceeds the predetermined threshold, the method and system notifies the user of the electronic device to purchase a new screen protector.
