  • Publication number: 20200038653
Abstract: Brain impairment, for example due to stroke, is corrected in order to improve body movement. An fNIRS device is positioned over the motor cortex of non-impaired individuals, and blood oxygen in locations of the brain is analyzed to determine brain activity corresponding to a particular body movement. The movements are statistically analyzed, and are compared with fNIRS data gathered from a movement impaired individual attempting the same movement. A weighted value corresponding to the desired brain activity is generated using the statistical analysis, and is graphically displayed to the movement impaired individual during the attempts. This produces a feedback loop relating to the movement which can be repeated to produce brain plasticity in the impaired individual to facilitate the movement. Additionally, correct brain activity can be used to cause the application of an electrical signal to muscles of the body to produce the desired movement.

  • Publication number: 20200036578
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for managing gateway switchovers. An indication is received that a primary gateway will be switched to a backup gateway. In response to the indication, a response is made to a periodic health probe that a gateway switchover has been initiated. Incoming data traffic is forwarded from the primary gateway to the backup gateway. Subsequent to an elapsed time delay, a response is made to the periodic health probe that the primary gateway will no longer accept incoming data traffic. The time delay may be based at least in part on one or more of a time interval of the periodic poll and a time to effect the gateway switchover. The forwarding of the incoming data traffic from the primary gateway to the backup gateway is terminated.

  • Publication number: 20200034055
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed which allow a secondary storage system to provide data to non-production workloads in conjunction with performing data backup and protection tasks. As disclosed, a secondary storage system exposes backup data stored by the secondary storage system to other workloads, such as test and development applications, data analytics, etc. These non-production workloads can run at the same time the secondary storage system provides backup services to a primary storage system. This consolidation eliminates the need for an enterprise to deploy separate storage clusters for analytics, test and development applications, etc. and eliminates unnecessary copies of data.

  • Patent number: 10545492
Abstract: An industrial data indexing system facilitates discovery and indexing of plant-wide data residing on multiple different data platforms. The indexing system automatically inventories industrial devices and other data sources located throughout a plant, and identifies available data items on each data source. The indexing system indexes the discovered data items in a federated data model that can subsequently be searched to locate data items or tags of interest. The federated data model records references to data items found on different types of data sources, including but not limited to industrial controller programs, human-machine interface applications, data historians, device documentation stores, inventory tracking systems, and other such data sources. The search system also caches selected portions of the data model to a user's personal device to allow these portion of the model to be accessed locally on the user's device without being online with the higher level indexing system.

  • Publication number: 20200028154
Abstract: The accurate determination of the state-of-charge (SOC) of batteries is an important element of battery management. One method to determine SOC is to measure the voltage of the cell and exploiting the correlation between voltage and SOC. For electrodes with sloped charge/discharge profiles, this is a good method. However, for batteries with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathodes the charge/discharge profile is flat. Now, by using the materials and methods disclosed herein, an amount of cathode active material that has a sloped charge/discharge profile is mixed with LFP in a cathode, which results in a charge/discharge profile with enough slope that the SOC of the battery can be determined by measuring the voltage alone.

  • Patent number: 10539119
Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure include a data processing and control augmentation system capable of identifying overloading of one or more wind turbine assemblies and providing information to a wind farm controller to reduce a power output of each overloaded turbine. The augmentation system thus reduces the power output of each overloaded turbine and, in turn, reduces loads applied to the wind turbine assembly, such as for a period of time until conditions favorably change. A described analysis of the present disclosure is able to utilize several incoming data streams from sensors so arranged to measure wind effects on blades to calculate and compare cyclic loads to threshold limits to o keep the loads within design limits. The control strategy reduces premature failure of components within the wind turbine assembly, and can be applied across an entire wind farm, even with only a subset of wind turbine assemblies being retrofitted.
