  • Patent number: 9391754
Abstract: A method of operating a node of a MIMO network may include transmitting first and second HARQ IDs over a downlink signaling channel to a wireless terminal for a first MIMO TTI. The first HARQ ID is mapped to a first MIMO layer, and the second HARQ ID is mapped to second and third MIMO layers. First, second, and third data blocks are transmitted over the first, second, and third MIMO layers to the wireless terminal for the first MIMO TTI. Responsive to receiving an ACK message associated with the first HARQ ID, a fourth data block is transmitted over the first MIMO layer to the wireless terminal for a second MIMO TTI. Responsive to receiving a NACK message associated with the second HARQ process identification, the second and third data blocks are retransmitted over the second and third MIMO layers to the wireless terminal for the second MIMO TTI.

  • Publication number: 20160128031
Abstract: Methods and user equipment (UE) for data demodulation. A UE comprises a receiver (Rx), a transmitter (Tx), a demodulator, a decoder, a processor, and a memory. An order message can be received by the receiver from a radio network node. The order message orders the UE to utilize both additional pilots and common pilots. In response to the receiver receiving the order message, the transmitter may return an ACK message to the radio network node. The receiver may also be configured to receive data from the radio network node. The memory stores computer program code which, when run in the processor, causes the demodulator to demodulate received data utilizing additional pilots in addition to common pilots. Furthermore, the memory and the computer program code are configured to, together with the processor, cause the demodulator to demodulate received data utilizing only common pilots when the decoder is unsuccessful in decoding received data demodulated by utilizing additional pilots in addition to common pilots.

  • Publication number: 20160044566
Abstract: According to one aspect of the teachings herein, a wireless communication network sends Interference Mitigation, IM, configuration information to a User Equipment, UE, or other wireless device operating in the network. The IM configuration information indicates a selected IM mode or mode. The IM modes differ with respect to the amount of network assistance required. Advantageously, IM mode selection by the network is based on obtaining capability information for the wireless device, indicating which IM modes are supported by the wireless device, and is further based on evaluating one or more operating parameters, such as network loading or resource availability and signal quality at the wireless device. From among the IM modes supported by the wireless device, the network selects the mode(s) that best complement current operating conditions, and the wireless device in turn restricts its operation to the selected IM modes.

  • Publication number: 20150382314
Abstract: A method in a network node for sending a pilot power value in a heterogeneous mobile communications network. The heterogeneous mobile communications network comprises a second set of base station nodes selected to operate in a Multiple Input Multiple Output, MIMO, -mode. The second set of base station nodes share a cell identity and are deployed within a coverage area. The network node computes (802) a pilot power value to be applicable when one or more mobile devices in the coverage area evaluates receipt of one or more Secondary Common Pilot Channels, S-CPICH, from a transmitter in said second set of base station nodes, wherein the computing is based on a measure indicative of a transmission power of the second set of base stations. The network node sends a signal to a radio network controller. The signal comprises the computed pilot power value, and enables the one or more mobile devices to be configured for MIMO operation.
