  • Publication number: 20130070609
Abstract: User equipment (1100, 1200) supporting multi-carrier operation is adapted to identify whether it is experiencing an excessive interference level on a downlink carrier, which interference may be due to an aggressor carrier. Based on this information, the user equipment deactivates one or more of the downlink carriers so that an adequate downlink quality can be maintained for at least some of the carriers. In an example method, a plurality of activated downlink carriers including at least two non-adjacent downlink carriers in a frequency band are received (1010). The user equipment monitors (1020) quality of at least a subset of the plurality of activated downlink carriers, and determines (1030) that the quality of at least one of the monitored carriers is worse than a predetermined threshold. In response, the user equipment deactivates (1040) one or more of the activated downlink carriers.

  • Publication number: 20130039208
Abstract: An arrangement (17) is provided for setting and adjusting at least one parameter in a radio communication network (11), which is used in control of communication in the radio communication network and which is dependent on a round trip time for a signal travelling from a radio network controller (13) to a user equipment (16) and back to the radio network controller. The arrangement comprises a module (17a) for initially estimating a maximum value of the round trip time; a setting module (17b) for initially setting the parameter depending on the initially estimated maximum value of the round trip time; a module (17c) for measuring the round trip time; and a module (17d) for adjusting the parameter depending on the measured round trip time, wherein the measured round trip time is expected to be shorter than the initially estimated maximum value of the round trip time.

  • Publication number: 20130034014
Abstract: Techniques for signaling radio link control (RLC) status reports to a wireless network, such as a network supporting multi-carrier High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA). An example method performed in a mobile terminal comprises calculating a throughput estimate data transmissions to the mobile terminal, determining a rate at which to send radio link control status reports, based on the throughput estimate, and sending radio link control status reports to the wireless network node at the determined rate. In some embodiments, the mobile terminal determines the rate at which to send radio link control status reports by comparing the throughput estimate to a threshold value and selecting the rate based on the comparison. The threshold value may be received from the wireless network node prior to the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20130010710
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method in a user equipment (100), configured for operation using a non-contiguous downlink carrier configuration within a first frequency band. Said non-contiguous downlink carrier configuration comprises at least two blocks wherein each block comprises one downlink carrier or several adjacent downlink carriers within the first frequency band and there is a gap between any two blocks among said at least two blocks. The method comprises receiving (502) a control signal indicating that compressed mode should be configured for a first block among said at least two blocks and that compressed mode should not be configured for a second block among said at least two blocks, and configuring (504) downlink compressed mode operation in the user equipment for the first block but not the second block in accordance with said received control signal. The disclosure also relates to a corresponding method in a radio network controller communicating with the user equipment.

  • Publication number: 20120329467
Abstract: A method in a network node (110) for configuring cells for downlink operations in a telecommunications system (100) is provided. The network node (110) is configured to support non-contiguous downlink operations on more than one cell (f1, f2, f3, f4) in at least one frequency band. The network node (110) receives a signal from a user equipment (121) in the telecommunications system (100). The signal comprises information about radio access capability of the user equipment (121). Information about radio access capability of the user equipment (121) comprises a first indication which indicates the maximum number of cells that is supported by the user equipment (121) in the non-contiguous downlink operation. Furthermore, the information about radio access capability of the user equipment (121) comprises a second indication which indicates the maximum gap bandwidth between cells (f1, f2, f3, f4) that is supported by the user equipment (121) in the non-contiguous downlink operation.
