Publication number: 20040247094Abstract: An advanced intelligent network (AIN) telephony service provided in a public switched telephone network (PSTN) is controlled based on instructions from a subscriber, browsing a packet switched data network using a voice browser. A voice extensible markup language (VXML) platform is connected to a web server and a service control point (SCP). The web server stores announcements that can be easily created and modified by a subscriber. When the VXML platform receives an announcement ID from the SCP, the VXML platform determines a location where the announcement is stored based on the ID, and then plays the remotely stored announcement. Thus, the announcements can be easily changed without affecting the SCP and other AIN network elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 24, 2004Publication date: December 9, 2004Applicant: SBC Knowledge Ventures, L.P.Inventors: Susanne Marie Crockett, Nancy Ann Book

Publication number: 20040240647Abstract: A telecommunications service implements an account code reporting feature by storing an account code associated with a subscriber at a service control point (SCP) in the public switched telephone network (PSTN). When a call is initiated from the subscriber's terminal, the SCP receives outgoing call data, including the subscriber's telephone number, a called party number and an account code entered from the subscriber's terminal. The SCP determines whether the call is subject to the account code reporting service and, if so, stores the call data. The SCP transmits the call data to a service management system accessible by the subscriber via a graphical user interface through a packet switched data network and an interactive voice response through the PSTN. The call is subject to the account code reporting service when the called party number is in the same local access and transport area as the subscriber's telephone number.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2004Publication date: December 2, 2004Applicant: SBC Properties, L.P.Inventors: Dianna Inara Tiliks, Carol Shifrin Gruchala, Susanne Marie Crockett, John Wesley Moss, Nancy Ann Book, William M. Patent number: 6807267Abstract: A system and method deliver audible caller identification information when standard Caller ID information is invalid or can not be provided, even when the called party connects to the network by private trunk group facilities. In one disclosed embodiment, a trunk group trigger associated with the called communication station is encountered, launching a termination attempt query. If standard caller identification information can not be provided for the calling party, the call will be routed to a privacy service to obtain the audible caller identification information.Type: GrantFiled: December 21, 2001Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: SBC Properties, LPInventors: John Wesley Moss, Dianna Inara Tiliks, Susanne Marie Crockett, Carol Shifrin Gruchala, Nancy Ann Book

Patent number: 6792089Abstract: However, the current call detail record system has certain drawbacks. For example, specific billing information is ordinarily tracked and available for calls made from one local access and transport area (LATA) to another (i.e., interLATA or long distance calls). Billing and usage information for calls within the same LATA (i.e., intraLATA or local calls), including local toll calls, are not maintained by the network or otherwise accessible to the network provider and customers. Therefore, the customers are not able to track intraLATA calls in the same manner as interLATA calls. For example, customers may desire identifying codes to be entered next to each charged call in order to facilitate subsequent billing of the customers' respective clients.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 2001Date of Patent: September 14, 2004Assignee: SBC Properties, L.P.Inventors: Dianna Inara Tiliks, Carol Shifrin Gruchala, Susanne Marie Crockett, John Wesley Moss, Nancy Ann Book, William M Moy

Patent number: 6611582Abstract: The preferred embodiments described herein include a method and system for billing for the use of a service control point (“SCP”). In one presently preferred embodiment, an SCP receives a query from a service switching point (“SSP”) and accesses data in a database in response to the query. The accessed data is associated with a data owner. The SCP tracks that the SSP sent the query and that the data owner's data was accessed in response to the query. After a plurality of queries have been received and tracked, the SCP creates a billing record and sends it to a billing center. Using the billing record, the billing center can charge the SSP for the use of the SCP. These preferred embodiments provide an efficient way for charging for the usage of an SCP, especially when the SSP querying the SCP is owned by a different telecommunications company.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2001Date of Patent: August 26, 2003Assignee: SBC Properties, L.P.Inventors: Nancy Ann Book, James Daniel Kovarik, Martha Lynda Marek, Thomas Joseph McBlain, Ronald Stephen Urban
