  • Patent number: 11008917
Abstract: Diesel Exhaust Fluid is metered into an engine exhaust gas aftertreatment system having a close coupled SCR catalyst and a main SCR catalyst. The DEF is injected into two injector locations, one upstream of the close coupled SCR catalyst and another upstream of the main SCR catalyst, the quantity of DEF in each injector being based on primarily the temperature at the main SCR catalyst and the mass flow of the NOx through the aftertreatment system. This method of injection enables a relatively better fuel economy outcome while meeting the regulated tailpipe NOx emission levels and the N2O formation limits.

  • Publication number: 20200386137
Abstract: A DEF injector is connected to the exhaust system of a vehicle upstream of an SCR catalyst, and is further connected to the ECU or DCU. An exhaust temperature sensor and an exhaust mass flow rate sensor are connected to the ECU or DCU, and further connected to the DEF injector. The ECU or DCU controls the DEF injector based on exhaust temperature and exhaust mass flow rate when the exhaust temperature is above a certain threshold. The DEF injector itself, or a dedicated DEF injector controller, overrides and/or supplements the control logic located within the ECU or DCU to control the DEF injector to inject DEF at reduced rates when the exhaust temperature and/or the exhaust mass flow rate are lower than the threshold for DEF injection set by the ECU or DCU.

  • Patent number: 10567431
Abstract: A system includes one or more “BotMagnet” modules that are exposed to infection by malicious code. The BotMagnets may include one or more virtual machines hosing operating systems in which malicious code may be installed and executed without exposing sensitive data or other parts of a network. In particular, outbound traffic may be transmitted to a Sinkhole module that implements a service requested by the outbound traffic and transmits responses to the malicious code executing within the BotMagnet. In the case of shellcode attacks, unsuccessful attacks may be emulated by selecting a corresponding emulator that will receive and execute instructions, as would a successful shellcode attack. Events occurring on the BotMagnet and Sinkhole are correlated and used to characterize the malicious code. The characterization may be transmitted to other computer systems in order to detect instances of the malicious code.

  • Patent number: 10299139
Abstract: A non-transitory computer readable storage medium has instructions executed by a processor to access a list of Wi-Fi networks available to a user device. User network activity is classified. It is determined that there is a new Wi-Fi network for the user device to initiate a connection attempt. In the event of an existing licensed spectrum wireless network data connection on the user device, licensed spectrum wireless network data connection analytics are collected and an attempt is made to transition to the new Wi-Fi network to produce either a failed transition to the new Wi-Fi network or a successful transition to the new Wi-Fi network. In the event of an existing Wi-Fi network collection on the user device or a successful transition to the new Wi-Fi network, available Wi-Fi networks are periodically assessed to establish one of a network unavailable state and a network available state.

  • Patent number: 10161329
Abstract: A method for controlling operation of an internal combustion engine determines an estimated NOx value as a function of at least one engine operating parameter. The method also determines an actual NOx value using a NOx sensor positioned in an exhaust gas stream of the internal combustion engine. The method detects at least one condition indicative of whether or not the actual NOx value is accurate. The actual NOx value is used for controlling engine operation when the at least one condition indicates that the actual NOx value is accurate, while the estimated NOx value is used for controlling engine operation when the at least one condition indicates that the actual NOx value is inaccurate.

  • Patent number: 10067045
Abstract: A method for determining the degree of saturation of a solid ammonia storage material in a storage unit includes activating a heater to release ammonia from the storage material until the pressure of the storage unit reaches a predetermined pressure. The method then deactivates the heater and determining a decay rate of the pressure of the storage unit while the heater is deactivated. The method estimates the degree of saturation of the ammonia storage medium in response to the decay rate. According to some embodiments, determining the decay rate may include measuring the time required for the pressure of the storage unit to drop from a first pressure threshold to a second pressure threshold.

  • Patent number: 9921131
Abstract: Methods are provided for estimating the NOx content of exhaust gas produced by an internal combustion engine. The method includes determining one or more operating parameters. The method further includes applying the determined operating parameter(s) to a global NOx model. The global NOx model may be derived using a plurality of steady state data points relating to local NOx emission models. The steady state data points may be derived using a plurality of set and variable operating parameters. The global NOx model allows for prediction of the engine-out NOx content of exhaust gas in real time and without a NOx sensor, even if engine operating parameters change.
