Patent number: 7295174Abstract: The present invention reduces smears arising from voltage decreases caused by the wiring resistance of scan lines for electron emission device selection. The display unit includes an FED panel in which scan lines, data lines, and electron supply devices are positioned at the intersections of the data lines and scan-lines. A scan driver for supplying a selection signal to the scan lines, and a data driver for supplying a drive signal to the data lines are provided. Electron emission devices selected by the selection signal are driven by the drive signal. A signal corrector circuit individually corrects the drive signal to be supplied to each data line to compensate for a voltage decrease caused by the wiring resistance in each column of the scan lines.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2003Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshimitsu Watanabe, Nobuaki Kabuto, Mutsumi Suzuki, Yoshihisa Ooishi, Mitsuo Nakajima, Junichi Ikoma

Publication number: 20070133812Abstract: The present invention identifies practical speaker connection using a device having a sound channel of a 5.1 channel or 7.1 channel, and provides the device that can easily reproduce the optimum multiple channels. The present invention can identify actual speaker arrangement by for example, measuring the impedance of a terminal at the side of an audio amplifier. If incorrect connection is found, a warning is issued. This information is transmitted to a signal source with an EDID and a signal with the optimum a number of sound channel is sent. The EDID is also used for the connection with a display unit and the speaker connection with which the display unit is provided uniquely. For example, a sound through the 7.1 channel is easily reproduced using the speaker of the display unit in the channel of the front speaker.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2007Publication date: June 14, 2007Applicant: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Kazuhiko Yoshizawa, Nobuaki Kabuto, Atsushi Yoshioka

Publication number: 20070103418Abstract: An image displaying apparatus, for improving motion blur, in particular, on an image displaying apparatus of hold-type, such as, a liquid crystal display element, etc., comprising: sub-frame producing portions (5, 6) for producing a first sub-frame, a second sub-frame being lower in the gradation than the first sub-frame, from an image of one (1) frame of an image signal inputted; a histogram detection portion (2) for detecting brightness histogram of the image signal; an image determination portion (3) for determining on whether the image signal inputted is a high-gradation image or not, from that brightness histogram; and a level compensation portion (4) for lowering a gradation level of that image signal inputted. And, according to the present invention, lowering the gradation of the high-gradation image keeps the difference in brightness between the first and the second sub-frames, and thereby increasing an effect of improving the motion blur.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 26, 2006Publication date: May 10, 2007Inventors: Masahiro Ogino, Nobuaki Kabuto, Kikuo Ono, Ikuko Mori, Yoshihisa Ooishi

Patent number: 7176876Abstract: The present invention provides a bright and high-resolution display apparatus having a dynamic range exceeding the number of gray-scale voltage (or current) outputs, which a signal driver is capable of generating. In accordance with the present invention, a select period, in which a group of pixels on each row is driven, is divided into a plurality of sub-periods. The signal driver supplies a voltage output varying from sub-period to sub-period to selected pixels through a signal electrode. The pixel is capable of expressing various values of a gray scale, the size of which is at least approximately equal to (the number of gray-scale voltage outputs, which the signal driver is capable of generating)×(the number of sub-periods). By changing the ratio of the length of a sub-period to the length of another sub-period or the range of the driving voltage (or current), the dynamic range of the display can be further increased.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2003Date of Patent: February 13, 2007Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Nobuaki Kabuto, Toshimitsu Watanabe, Yoshie Kodera, Mutsumi Suzuki, Tetsu Ohishi

Publication number: 20060291569Abstract: The present invention is intended to permit both real-time display of a picture represented by a non-compressed video signal on a television and display of a picture represented by a compressed video signal at any desired time by simultaneously transmitting the compressed video signal and non-compressed video signal via one interface. An STB packetizes a compressed video signal, and multiplexes the compressed video signal and a blanking signal combined with a non-compressed video signal. Thus, both the video signals are transmitted simultaneously. A picture represented by the non-compressed video signal is displayed on a television in real time. The compressed video signal is stored in a storage medium incorporated in the television, read at any user's desired time, and decoded so that a picture represented by the compressed video signal can be viewed at the user's desired time.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 27, 2006Publication date: December 28, 2006Inventors: Nobuaki Kabuto, Akira Shibata, Yoshiaki Mizuhashi
